Always find it odd when people try to blame others for not warning them about the blooming obvious. Like the kids who discover that pouring boiling water on friends causes severe burns, then complaining that they'd got it from the internet but hadn't been warned about how dangerous the fad was. Athletes walk a fine line and have to be so careful. On line goods may be cheaper, but may not be what they seem.
Enjoying the inaugural European Championships....good idea to bring some European Championships together to make a big sports event. Bound to attract bigger crowds as interest will be higher....Glasgow has sold out most tickets. We are doing well...hardly surprising when you realise events are cycling, rowing, gymnastics and swimming.
GB done surprisingly poorly in the rowing....only 2 silvers and 2 bronzes. I suppose no team can expect to dominate for ever.
Better in the pool....2 golds and a silver. Enjoyed the mens 2x200m...love relays. Moves to Berlin for the athletics on Tuesday. The idea of sharing tournaments seems to be taking hold....spreads the excitement, but also the cost.
Just watched the swimming Mixed Medley in the European Championship....how exciting is that....especially as GB won gold and broke the European record. As you could put the 2 men and 2 women in any order...depending on the strength of their chosen stroke....the lead switched around. Peaty in the 2nd leg had to make up a massive Russian lead., then our 2nd man laid down a lead for Freya Anderson who had the final leg and had to hold off the Russian man. Very exciting and apparently a new event for the Tokyo Olympics.
Dina Asher-Smith takes gold in the European 100 m at 10.85. A new GB record and best in the world this year.
Hughes and Prescod take gold and silver for GB in European 100 m for men. Ujah just missed out on 3rd.
What is pleasing for me is not so much the gold and silver but the timings posted by Hughes and Prescod, comfortably sub 10. Pity the third guy with a real Turkish name couldn´t go sub 10 as well.
She is!!! I think most athletes are attractive people - including the likes of Gatlin and Chambers, when compared to our fat and ugly politicians.
Why? I was just endorsing a comment made by SFTW about Asher Smith, and then added my own comment!! Not difficult to understand. Even the worst like Gatlin and Chambers are far more attractive than our politicians, save one or two like Chuka Umuna!!
Joint best in the world this year. I like that she was annoyed she was only joint World Lead; she wanted it outright. That’s a good sign.
