Very disciplined performance by Sunderland.

No rising to the little niggles, no rolling about, just got up everytime and got on with it. I think avoiding getting dragged into confrontations is what kept their team mentality solid, especially at the back.

In other words, everything the likes of Chelsea need to learn that they frustrate me over so much.

Not every team can score the only goal at the Stadium of Light and come away empty handed.

Weekend oop north for Boro on Sunday. Be lying if I said I was looking forward to the match tbh.

Staying in York tomorrow night. Shame they're away rather than at home as quite fancied taking a game in.

Scunthorpe are at home but bit of a trek really. Might try find a random non league game to go to.

Bwood are going to **** them up.

Be sure to have a parmo from a kebab shop. None of the fancy parmo restaurant rubbish.

York is great though. Maybe just sack the game off entirely. Darlo at home tomorrow to Macclesfield. Should be a good crowd.

if you were looking at Scunny then I would suggest Brigg Town, good little ground. But they are away, at Selby so not far from York

Yeah I noticed it was a top of the table clash so doubly annoying it wasn't at York.

I ain't driving all the way to Darlington to come back south. Like you say I'll probably **** it off as once I drive to York I'm not going to be wanting to travel much.

You been to York before? ... it's a cracking city - very picturesque - the Shambles, the Minster - even the stroll around the city walls (which was free) ... the Jorvik centre ... loads to do and see on a short stay ... admittedly was the early 80s when I was there - hotel bedroom looked out onto the Racecourse ...

Nah but I've wanted to for a while. Was always the plan to tie it in with Boro away this season as it's not far from there at all.

Should hopefully have most of tomorrow afternoon and all of Sunday morning.

I lived there for a year, late 80's.

Fabulous place. My locals were The Brigadier Gerrard and The Tap and Spile, whiled away good few hours sampling ale in the latter.

Never been back, strangely. Ended up in South Wales and it's a long way away. Virgin did run a train service Swansea to Newcastle which I used once, that would he ideal for a weekend in York but no longer exists.

Ah well.

Can't big the place up enough though. Got shops, pubs, restaurants, ghosts, cafés, sights, the minster, museums, racecourse, golf courses, a river, the lot.

Sunny game as been called off.
Was up in York last April, first time in a while, great place for a weekend break.

Selby Town is one I was looking at, see how I'm doing for time on the way up.
If you don’t manage it, get down to the Stone Roses bar down by the river and get smashed on Red Stripe

About 40 mins on train from me, a good day out in the summer on a pub crawl. As you said, loads to do, easy to walk it all and some great places to eat.

Just a place to avoid if the races are on.

I don't drink. Will probably do the walls, have a look round some antique shops and just have a general mooch.
