I am looking to get through ref training to help out with the local club(s) at youth level. The local FA cover the cost and I have to have a DBS check. Not sure how frequently this will need to be done/renewed.

Probably every time there is a new Coote revelation ...

I get checked/renewed every year by both football and cricket clubs for coaching.

It will be the same if refereeing, I would assume.

Ok I've never heard of this before?...one of our new players has received a two match ban for attempting to deceive an official. It was the penalty at the end of the Bromley game in something like the 94th minute, that allowed us to draw level at 2-2.

The FA have looked at the incident that led to the penalty and decided the player tried to deceive the match official so has been given a two match ban.

It was never a penalty I agree, but surely that's down to the match official, if we start issuing bans after the event, there's going to be a lot of players banned in the Prem.

**** me ... if something similar is imposed in the Prem, the matchday squads will soon be decimated <laugh>

Never heard of it either but personally think its a great idea, that is, if its implemented correctly but we all know it won't be.

Sure they brought in a retrospective 3 match ban years ago in the Prem but only ever used it once? An Everton player I think.

To be fair to the FA it was cheating in my eyes, the ref should never of gave it, and we would have deservedly lost, but he's not the only player we've ever seen do that. Like you say, I don't mind if they are consistent. Don't think my lot on twitter are happy about it though, I'm just keeping stum.

Need to be much stronger punishments for 'simulation' and shirt tugging / holding IMHO ... need eradicating ...

Yeah, I'm happy for our player to take the rap for what he did, it was cheating.

Defo need to cut out the shirt pulling, it's happening all the time now.

Is the punishment of a ban only to be given if the ref awards a penalty and its scored. Or will it be given if ref just waves play on, as to me it should be a 2 match ban for a dive whether the ref falls for it or not. Last weekend a Chesterfield player was booked first half for a dive, he did a more blatant one in the second half but no card, that's obviously inconsistency from what was a very poor ref but in retrospect he should be done after the event.

I actually forgot there were other games this weekend. Ipswich Sheffield United should be decent.

Both massively underperformed so far, as much as I don't like the bloke but thought the Wilder sacking was a poor decision.

Yeah seemed a mental gamble swapping him for Wilder. Think they won last time though so be interesting to see if they can pick up a bit of form.
