I know you support Spurs so it's enjoyable to ridicule Arsenal. But what he said in that statement is objectively true. I suspect you know that and are just trying to get fellow Arsenal haters to jump in on the WUM.
It’s not, though. The quality at the top of the premier league is as bad as when Leicester won the league. Liverpool are winning it with one of the lesser sides they’ve had in quite a few years. It was there for the taking but you failed to step-up. That’s on Arteta, not circumstances of not being in the right place at the right time.

It's isn't true though.

He says in the previous 2 seasons Arsenal got more points than Liverpool have won the title with, that's true, just a bit whiney to be pointing that out.

However he then says "with the points from the last 2 seasons we have 2 premier league titles". That's not true, he doesn't have any titles.

It's quite simple really, no titles. Along comes a Gooner to argue a point though.

You can only beat what's in front of you... and we only lost 3 games ... 2 of them by an odd goal ... and two of that side went on to win multiple Premier league titles with their subsequent clubs ...

The league was won this year when the leaders reached 82 points. In fact it would have been won with only 77 points and perhaps even less (although arguably it's only dropping further now because the league is already over). That's what he's saying. Easy to understand if you're not just on the WUM.

I wasn’t having a go at your club. It’s great that you won it but it’s fine to talk the truth about it and that is, it was a really poor league, at the time. 81 points you won it with, kind of backs up the fact that all of the top teams had bad seasons. Arsenal were next best with only 71pts.

Points required to win the prem:
2024-25 82pts
2023-24 90pts
2022-23 85pts
2021-22 93pts
2020-21 75pts
2019-20 82pts
2018-19 98pts
2017-18 82pts
2016-17 87pts
2015-16 72pts
2014-15 80pts

2020-21 was almost as bad a quality-at-the-top league as the Leicester 15-16 one.
2018-19 and 2021-22 Liverpool got royally shafted both those times. Liverpool have been shafted by unfortunate timing of quality rival title race more times than Arsenal.

We were 10 points clear of the team that finished second ... but second, third, fourth and fifth were still filled by members of the Sky 6 ... rather than that indicating that the league was poor, it could indicate that it was very competitive ... but with a maverick thrown in ...

I wonder why that was <laugh>

You’re putting in a lot of research. You really wanna win this argument that you can’t win, don’t you?

If any of the top teams were firing they’d be hitting at least mid 80’s. None of them were, though.

It could be argued the other way, the reason those 2 seasons (18/19 & 21/22) had 2 teams with massive points was because the quality of the rest of the league was ****.

Can't even remember what we're arguing now but title races are interesting to look into. For the last decade, for a decent title race you've needed both Liverpool and City to fire as you've both been the best two by a mile. If one of them hasn't fired then the league is won at a canter by the other. If they both fired then one has always been shafted with a losing high points tally (which has always been Liverpool thus far). Hopefully one season soon we might get a three-way proper race too now that Arsenal are pretty good too. Prem hasn't seen a three-way for as long as I can remember.

Perhaps. But I also remember Liverpool and City being absolutely unreal those two seasons.

You're missing the point. He said he'd have 2 titles but you haven't because each year the league is different and it takes a different point total to win it therefore the points total he stated gets him two titles is nonsense. It does not and that's simply because Arsenal were not good enough so he should own that instead of making up hypothetical crap to try and keep himself in a job.

Frankly, I'd be embarrassed if Arteta was our manager with the **** he's spouting ...

Van Nistelrooy seems a bit dim and says some daft things... Rodgers soundbites were positively cringey at times but he did bring us the FA Cup and two top 5 finishes ... but Ranieri was superb, different gravy, humble and dignified whether we were winning or losing, never failing to give the opposition credit, never blaming officials, and amusungly self-deprecating with his 'dilly-ding, dilly dong' nonsense...

Lol, you'd rather have a manager who got you relegated, rather than one who's challenging for the title and the Champions league

K Fosse <laugh>

He needs moving on imo, if he wins the CL then I'm talking bollox but I don't see that happening.

I may be the only Red saying this, but I'll always support any British team in the CL* except City, Chelsea, and United. I hope Arsenal pull off a miracle, I really do. Nothing, even the expected Trent ****housery, can take the gloss off this season, parade, and summer for me. Nothing. So good luck to Arse tonight, but should they lose, I 100% want PSG to lift the CL because -since the knockout stages anyway - they've been head and shoulders the best team in the competition. And that includes the wonderful two legs of that tie between Inter and Barca as well. :emoticon-0148-yes:

* Edit - when we're out of it, of course. :emoticon-0138-think

And right after that. <doh>
