I think there are quite a lot of away fans of big clubs who go to games they’d rather sack off because once you drop down the points list you’ll struggle to get back in. Not the case with United necessarily but I know Spurs regulars with that dilemma.
Surely you could just buy the ticket and give it to a mate or whatever, or just literally but the ticket and not go.

A lot of big clubs have random collections to try and discourage the former. Some clubs also check for tickets scanned in for the latter.
