We had Ivan Toney on trial ... more frustrating was Lookman - had a very good initial season with us but we couldn't stump up the £14m at the end of his loan due to FFP/PSR constraints - if he had stayed we likely would have avoided that relegation - as it was, he followed one of our outgoing coaches to Atalanta where he has been absolutely ripping it up ever since ...
There has been a few british players going under the radar and playing well in Italy lately.
I know Lookman chose to play for Nigeria, but he is English.
McTominay is having a blast over there with Napoli from what I hear and before that Tammy Abraham had a decent first season with Roma before injury gimped his career. He is on loan to AC Milan now I think.

If rumours are to be believed we are in for Godfrey who isn't getting much game time - we need to get rid of Coady, Vestergaard and Faes so need a reliable partner for Okoli who has some potential...
I thought our team was amazing looking back now, obtaining the services of Steve Bruce, turning away Beardsley, and add Tony Cascarino in the mix for a set of tracksuits, I can see why now we took Everton to three replays the year they won the FA Cup. Sad part of it all, those lads never ever got us promoted, but positive for them is they went on to greater things. I still think of the likes of Gazzaniga now in more recent times playing for Girona in the Champions League against teams such as Real Madrid, great to see and have been part of as a lower league supporter.
