Not sure if I want a surprise Brighton win or Arsenal to batter them. Don’t like the locals being happy as they’re smug enough with their perfectly run football team they’ve all suddenly started supporting.

Brighton, defo not Arsenal.

Yeah. Doubt their defence is good enough but going forwards they’ve been excellent. Minty from Newcastle and Mitoma will get in behind a few times I’m sure as is the custom here.

Same as I would any other season... and whether we were a European side or not. Realistically, we had 2 less guaranteed games last year so it was less of an issue - the extra games have caused this - I just don't agree with the seeding / weighted advantage of home draw.

I also said that the European sides shouldn't be excluded (only argued the merits of the squibness of the final were they to be so).

I think you'll find that if this seeded nonsense continues, the "lustre" of this particular competition will wane... but as a route to Europe, this cup would still be relevant, IMO.

A cup final will never be "meh", IMO. Unless you get bored of getting to them. There's a fair chance that with the strength at the top half of the PL nowadays, winning this competition could become a priority more often than not for many traditional "European" clubs.

Dunno what the answer is, but giving the 6 "seeded" sides a 50/50 chance at a home tie and keeping them apart isn't it.

Bit late to this but the way I see it:

There's already a form of seeding as different levels of clubs enter in different rounds, it's not like it's a totally fair competition with everyone having the same process. Something had to be done to account for the extra games the clubs in Europe are now going to be playing and perhaps the obvious solution would have been to have the competing clubs to enter a round even later than they do to reduce their number of games - that would have benefitted them more and I suspect have been their first choice and ties in with what already happens in it. However that devalues the competition further and I see the seeding they've chosen as a middle ground which benefits the competition and the smaller clubs who get to have a money spinning game at their grounds more than the clubs competing in Europe themselves.

Still **** though, it's a shame it's come to this as it does devalue the competition a touch.

Griffin Park was beautiful.

Indeed it was. Glad I managed to visit it, was only ground with pub on each corner too wasn't it?

Only visited 3 stadiums that don't exist anymore (excluding The Dell) and they're all in London. Suppose Goodison will be gone after this season.

Yeah I think one closed towards the end but yes. That’s a good list for me to try and work out…

WHL
Upton Park
Highfield Rd
Griffin Pk
Layer Road
Nene Park has probably gone
The Dell
The Don Valley might still be there but not for football
Underhill

I definitely went to Highbury when very young but can’t remember if I saw a game
There’ll be a few more. Will have a think.

Is the Don Valley the athletics ground Rotherham used after Millmoor?

I'm including the Withdean if so.

Went to Hull's old ground as well, Boothferry Park
Have Wimbledon gone back to Plough Lane, I went there to

Did anyone of you go to Elm Park in Reading (my hometown). Reading were there until around 1998 I think. Much better atmosphere than the sterile Mad Stad

No but my dad (who lies/misremembers a lot so could be bollocks) did for a midweek game back in the day. Got there just before KO so followed the blue and white scarves in and paid on the gate as one did only to obviously find himself in the home end with us winning late and Rufus Brevett, who you may remember, jumping onto the fencing in front of him after he’d been getting dog’s abuse all night.

The Madjeski is the worst of all the new grounds. Miles from the station or anything but a KFC and takes forever to get away from if driving.
