Imagine it made more sense if Division 4 players weren’t full-time (no idea if they were but guess most then had other jobs of some description). Even now some of those Conference South slogs are brutal. Truro away on a Tuesday night from north of London then into work on Wednesday. Grim.

Yeah we'd have to make that Cornwall lot go and play in a Welsh League, but you are right players never use to get paid much, they certainly weren't driving posh cars they were getting the train home in cattle class.

I didn't know your club even existed until we beat you 7 - 1 in a league cup second leg tie and them got revenge over Notts Forest 4 - 1 in the next round

But yes it's all about perspective. unfortunately for us the best we achieved in the top division was second to Liverpool at a time when they were un beatable, the Man City of that era

Oooooh fighting talk <laugh>

Snap on the second bit. 83/84 and we lost to Everton in the FA Cup semi too. Proper done over by the scousers that season.

Those ****s beat us in the FA Cup final as well

Offside goal for their first and an assault on our keeper for their second and just to rub salt in the wounds our goal was disallowed for offside

Scousers still wonder why they not as loved as Man U or Man City

Are any of them loved?

While it's great getting a tie against a Prem club, I'd still rather win L2 than the League Cup, so much so I actually hate the first round of the LC because it brings risk of injury to your players when the season has only just started, so I wasn't overly disappointed when Swansea knocked us out in the first round. At least with the FA Cup the timings are better.

That’s why I’d probably say the best solution is to scrap it. Any club in any league will rightly prioritise the league over the league cup until they get to the last 4

Nah don't scrap it, it's good for bantz when a Prem team wins it, quite funny knowing Klopp left with the Mickey Mouse cup - it's one of those events that fixes a timeline in your brain <whistle>

I don’t see why that’s a reason to scrap it. Let me dream.

None of the other top nations have 2 domestic cups do they?

With so many fixtures something has to give and unfortunately money talks so it will probably be the league cup unless they make significant changes like the bullshit seedings we’ve seen.

Why do we have to match ourselves to other leagues? I don't give a **** what they do tbh.

Fact remains it's bollocks to make changes which damage 86 clubs for the sake of 6.

I don’t blame the clubs other than that they’ll be lobbying behind the scenes to scrap this cup, pushing for a 16/18 team league, matches abroad etc. and won’t mind the extra European games with the dough that brings.

I blame the Premier League itself for being a combination of weak and greedy. And the FA for being weak/pointless.

See I actually think there's a decent argument for an 18 team league tbh. So much dross in the bottom half of the division who wouldn't be missed.

Would definitely prefer that to scrapping the league cup.
