But sure Southgate is the problem :emoticon-0105-wink:
Pre Southgate we had a defence of Cahill and Jagieka. Baines was left back. Don’t remember the right back. He’s now inherited arguably the best squad we’ve had in a generation and he’s been handed the easiest run of fixtures in tournaments that we’ll probably never get again. Anything other than getting to the final would have been seen as an abject failure. Yet again though as soon as we’ve played against a genuine top side, the first in the tournament, he’s come up hopelessly short.

We have a really young talented squad. I hope to fook Southgate doesn’t sign that contract and remove all hope that we should have for the next 10 year.

So....

No Bank Holiday today then?

I had a hospital appointment this morning, it was timed for me travel during rush hour, so left early....the roads were dead! I think a lot of people must have taken the day off. So got to my appointment early but at least could chill out, rather than be stressed oiut.

He had the opportunity to have a look at the opposition and come up with a formation and plan to counter that and win the game.

He didn't, he just did what he always does. Including blindly picking Kane when everyone could see he was out of form and not 100% in some way or another.

Loyalty will only get you so far, as has been shown with inevitability by Southgate. He clearly picked Kane 'just in case' he scored a goal. There were other options.

Ultimately, Southgate has created an England squad with a club atmosphere, and he deserves the credit for that. It has even transferred onto the support, who are no longer out to get coked and pissed up and chuck chairs around.

He's not a coach though, he's a manager, and will always be found wanting against quality opposition and a coach who knows how to change things round. He has zero tactical or game management nous, and you need that at this top level.

Agree - but along with the blind loyalty to Kane ranks the playing people out of position, presumably to accommodate 'names' ...

Foden, TAA and Trippier all suffered as a result... and we had a team that was always struggling with a lack of balance ...

Southgate shot himself in the foot playing Kane, he didn't have the guts to do the sensible thing and drop him, not saying we would have won it but we'd have had a better chance with 11 playing rather than the 10, could have cost himself a place in the record books rather than just another also ran.

Bit of a recurring theme with Kane.

Walker is another who should disappear from international football with Southgate.

Walker, Kane, Trippier, all three should have played their last game for England, we need to move on.

Walker somehow slipped under (most people's) radar, but he was skinned for both their goals last night, he was nowhere to be seen.

There's more to defending than being quick.

That's nowt to do with football, it's typically a mixture of beer and men dick waving.

Should never have given an extention to 1am, even if we won it didn't need it and just created our over stretched emergency services even more work. and we wonder why this country is in a fooking mess.

England had a lower xG at the euros than Croatia did. Christ. Good stat.

The fact Gareth was about to bring on Gallagher before Spain scored the winner has been lost in the aftermath of us losing. Just another horrendous tactical decision. He's definitely getting a two year extension though isn't he

All this Arnold wouldn’t have been at fault for two goals….well he wouldn’t have been playing RCB

if the Trent cucks can give me the lottery numbers.

Will gladly have him never play for England again<cheers>.

Also don't get the club rivalry player bashing when they're playing for the national team. I couldn't care less if arsenal players play abysmally. I couldn't care less that White doesn't even want to play for England. The less they play for the national team the better.

Do united fans really get upset if Mainoo gets stick when playing for England? Or Chelsea if Palmer got stick? No-one gives a toss do they?

Bellingham though remains an enigma. Like Denilson and Wilshere...not entirely sure what any of them are actually good at.
