TBF anyone could be England manager and everyone would hate him. England arnt going to win anything but the expectation is always there so every manager is going to fall short of expectations.

I disagree. It's not about being hated, it's how you deal with it. Being afraid and transferring that onto the pitch is loser mentality.

England, the current crop of players we have, are more than capable of winning a tournament. A decent manager would make it happen.

Tbh I don't even blame Trent.

There's no doubt in my mind, Southgate's told him to "just go out and do what you do" like that's what happens at club level <doh>

I don't know what his role actually is. Let's imagine for a moment that he genuinely is the best passer in the world and he's been put in a "quarterback" position to try and take up the Pirlo role. Who is he pinging the ball to? Kane, Foden/Trippier on the left wing? There's only Saka who that could work for and I don't recall him attempting a single long pass out to Saka.

There was one and he got in ... but was pretty well defended by Kristiansen...

The way managers approach winning international tournaments changed the day Brazil went out in '82, playing attacking football is a good way to go out early.

This is it. Depends how you've set up the rest of the team. You need width, runners, and a high press.

When anyone talks about attacking football, it doesn't mean you're not organised enough to defend. I give you France 98 and Brazil 02 for that.

How many times has that been said over the years... We've had so many golden generations. We've got some good players but overall our defence isn't a cup winning defence. Our goal keeper isn't a cup winning goalkeeper. We've got some real stars but the majority of the squad are not cup winning quality. The national bias just always seeps in expecting glory.

All in all we're a semi/quarters quality team and that's probably where we finish... Be it with boring Southgate tactics, or more exciting tactics with someone else.

We're a good side but not a great side. There are pieces of the puzzle missing.
