For all your whinging and belly aching you've kept coming second to a better team and manager - in all your glory years there were no financial constraints on you - was that 'fair play'? ...

... and for me there shouldn't be for anybody else now - FFP as it stands ain't fit for purpose ... other means are available but wouldn't be as effective in stifling competition for the Big boys ...

If you want real FFP then bring in wage and transfer caps that apply to ALL and a draft system ... would make the league more interesting and competitive for everyone other than the Big 6 ...
Ffs<doh>

So already gained 2 ,plus you ignored Everton who were one of the group who led to the formation of PL , and surely now a big 7 with Newcastle . Keep it up and at this rate we will have a big 13

For me there was originally a big two, that would be Manchester United and Liverpool, both number one around different periods - that would be around the time of European Cup success - I don't really know how all these other names creeped into it but they did lol.

I'd probably throw in Arsenal because of their 70's double success - Spurs because, I don't know why - Then Chelsea and Man City who bought success via cheating or other means in recent years.

I suppose people could ask why Forest and Villa are not in there, and I honestly don't know, but that would be my six in no particular order, other than United and Liverpool being the top two.

A menshy for West Ham because they gave us the World Cup. Leeds under Revie.

Anyone mentioning Newcastle, well all I can say to that is <laugh>

So it's...

Liverpool
Man Utd
Man City
Chelsea
Arsenal
Spurs

Opinions eh! :)

Love the tears of the cartel 6 plastic glory boys. None come from anywhere near the clubs they support of course, and the tears aren't for the state of football, but because their glory hunt isn't turning out so well.

Back in the days when you could just turn up at the turnstiles, there used to be a select number of 'all ticket' games at Highbury, so I always based the top clubs on those games.

Man Utd
Liverpool
Everton
Tottenham
West Ham
Nottm Forest

This is mid/late 80s so Chelsea don't appear on there because they were a yo-yo club back then. Everton were a big club and would often push Liverpool. Man City don't even feature, because they were a Div 2 team who used to regularly get battered by the likes of West Brom, or Leeds

Which teams would I like to go back in time and attend a game...

Forest under Clough
Leeds under Revie
Chelsea early seventies (Harris, Osgood, Hudson etc)
West Ham (but I did see them in 74) I also saw Everton in the 80's under Howard Kendall
Liverpool in the Kop before we turned the game sterile, maybe Shankly time
I'd like to see Malcolm Allison or El Tel again back in the day both I have seen

This is quite hard, because there's so many lol. Maybe attend Italia 90.

Would love to have been at Italy 90. I remember me and my school mates trying to hatch a plan that we'd all go together lol. Suffice to say we didn't pull it off.

One of the best world cups ever that. The Pavarotti tune, Roger Milla pretending not to be 48 playing for Cameroon, England looking like they were going to crash out before that David Platt goal, the Penalties against West Germany .....

It's weird because I can't remember what happened yesterday, but I remember all that and more. I also remember the 1974 World Cup, East Germany v West Germany, and Haiti and Zaire being in it, no I never googled any of that.

I'd forgotten that I was up on Dartmoor when somebody asked me what I'd been up to this week <laugh>

I was a proper football nut back in the day, I sort of lost interest after SKY took hold. Sort of got back into it now, and just accepted it for what it is, but no where the levels I use to be with it. Some changes I like, some I hate but not my world anymore sadly, but grateful to have lived so long to have these memories.
