Interesting that you'd keep nearly all your defenders. You have seven on your list from this season but I'll bow to your greater knowledge and obviously we'll see how that works out.

Midfield we seem to agree on apart from VDB who I've not seen enough of (has anyone).

Up front I'd forgotten about Elanga who I'd keep as well. Rashord is one who splits opinion amongst United fans, or so I've heard and Ronaldo is definitely not the future so I'd wish him well and try to move on from the past.

The thing is if you don't have a major cull now then when ? It seems the perfect time to have a massive clear out and then back the new manager both in the transfer market and by giving him the time needed.

Just getting rid of the ones who's contracts have run down just doesn't go far enough to give the reboot required in my humble opinion.

Well Bailly and Jones would go from the defense and really Lindelof and Shaw are very close to the chop. I'd bring Eathan Laird back as well, he's very good prospect currently at Bournemouth.

It's still a big cull.

Three goal keepers go.

In midfield Matic, Mata, Lingard, Pogba go, plus some other squad players like Pellestri, Chong and Perreira.

Up front Cavani, Greenwood, Martial all go, which would quite reasonably mean Ronaldo stays for one more season.

Any more is too many, I've probably forgotten a couple as well.

Even if United go 2 up I’d still put my money on Pool tonight

it’s just not a match up

I know everyone in the media and fanboy base is trying to build it up like they always do as the biggest derby bla bla because they pang for them days but let’s be real here.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Thiago, Fabinho, Salah, Mane, Diaz.

Centre-back Phil Jones starts as interim manager Ralf Rangnick makes four changes from the team which started Saturday's 3-2 Premier League win against Norwich.

Jones, making only his second league appearance since January 2020, looks to be one of three centre-backs, while full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, midfielder Nemanja Matic and striker Marcus Rashford also start.

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Dalot, Maguire, Lindelof, Jones, Wan-Bissaka, Matic, Pogba, Fernandes, Elanga, Rashford.

Maguire n Jones

might aswell give Pool the points now

Of the current first team squad?

I'd keep;

de Gea

Varane
Maguire
Lindelof (only just)
Wan Bissaka
Shaw (just)
Dalot
Telles
Williams (currently out on loan)
Tuanzebe (out on loan)
Mengi (out on loan)

Fred
Fernandes
Hannibal
Garner (out on loan)
McTominay
van de Beek (out on loan)

Ronaldo
Sancho
Rashford
Elanga

So sixteen players who aren't currently out on loan, and five who are.

It's a fair exaggeration by people to say there are only about ten worth keeping, it's not so.

Only one keeper by the way, de Gea.

Need to add four or five finished article buys to that, and get rid of about ten others. We're clearly very light up front and in midfield, and would need a class centre half and a reserve keeper also.
You're a top poster. One of the good ones from the old lot. Can't beat it.

Switches very easily to 3-4-3 when you have the ball, and there's pace at the side of Maguire for our counter-attacks. The passing of Thiago and the movement of our front three and our fullbacks will be key if you go 5-4-1. If we don't score in the first half-hour (and God forbid you nick one), I can see huge frustration.

We're not going 3-4-3 at any point ffs <laugh>

Appreciate you pretending there's a game here though <cheers>
