You have to take into account the strength of other teams throughout the league back then.
40 points was considered an absolute minimum to avoid relegation and often more were needed, just lately teams have escaped it with as few as 35 and i could be even fewer this season.

It was a more level playing field then, yes.

Even pre Roman Chelsea only finished four points behind English football's greatest ever club side.

I don't think anyone has said that it is new.. and Jurgen has only won 2 domestic trophies in 9 seasons anyway, compared to Pep's 9

The more accurate comparison is the relentless accumulation of points.

I think United's 98/9 side won the league with fewer than 80 points?
Oh stop being a bellend, take a look at the state of Liverpool when he took over and the fact that he's also won the CL and just face the facts that he's done a ****ing great job then go take your head for a **** and stop peddling this nonsense.

I remember being in town centre on more than one occasion when it was Town v Leeds day watching the hooligan Bantz after the game whilst parked up with some of the bros before we nipped out for a kebab
Classic people watching...and not a brain cell between them <ok>

Oops penalty to Luton.
