For what it's worth I only think the club's stature comes into it for the biggest clubs.

Clubs like Liverpool and United can attract the best when they're **** purely cos of who they are. I don't think that applies to any other clubs in England.

Not having CL football is a major disincentive for our recruitment right now. It’s where we need to get back to.

We’re still a big club, which I why I say we ‘should’ be competing for the top 4.

I still think DCL would be tempted if Arsenal seriously came in for him.

The point is, that when people were moaning about Wenger ‘only’ getting top 4, I was saying that it was still a good achievement, especially given those circumstances that you mention. Ie paying for the stadium, having to sell our best players and having a limited transfer budget.

I said at the time we could drop a lot lower than 4th, which is where we are now.

Yes but you could have also gone higher, if your board didnt keep hiring spastics and buying **** players
