And nor was Silva's. Look, Milner should have been off, maybe straight red even, for the booking/red he should have got for fouling Foden just outside the box in the first half. It seemed to me, and everyone else in the pub I watched it from, that Milner made no attempt at all to play the ball then. So I ain't playing the victim card for Milner. But Silva's was an uncontrolled hack too, and sauce for the goose and all that.

But yeah, read or quote the whole post - I think Jurgen got very, very lucky with Milner yesterday. He played well against an aging Zaha, who isn't the player he was two years ago, but City was just too big a leap for him, especially when we have Gomez, one of the quickest defenders in the league, sitting on the bench. Even with Gomez on though, whoever had that job had the right to get cover from a midfielder - Hendo thought he was playing a no 10 role in the first half yesterday, and not a good no 10 either.

If Milner gets sent off then the game changes and all subsequent events in the match including Silva's incident don't play out.

Having said that, the reason he didn't card Silva was because he knew he had blatantly fcked up with Milner and to do so would've highlighted a double standard to the extreme. It was so bad you can't even say he did it to even things out. He did it because he knew if he had it would highlight his initial decision even more and draw further criticism.

I don't think the Milner red card should be a talking point, it would have ruined a great game. Point each was fair enough and some superb entertainment.
