I've never liked the current rules. I just think it's crazy that one offence results in three punishments, regardless of who is playing. I think there should only be one punishment on the pitch. Suspensions is a bit different, because it's needed to control repeat offenders over the course of a season. However, there's nothing to say suspension rules can't be modified either.

Before the change that Windy highlighted to me yesterday, I can remember our keeper getting sent off in a game, and conceding the penalty, followed by suspension. I just think it's bonkers, why are we punishing players twice on the pitch for one offence, sometimes fate plays against you, and whether the player intended to or not handball yesterday, there was no way he was going to avoid it, so the outcome was always going to be the same under the current rules.

I'm not sure what the suspension is for James, but if he gets the equal tariff to Xakha and Perez for their tackles, that is just sick. Indeed, he shouldn't be suspended at all, and I said that when Allison was rightly sent off against Brighton a couple of seasons ago.

Tbf they all do
That’s sort of what I was asking
When I think about it they nearly all have

is there one who hasn’t ?
I think it massively depends on the press

when Klopp first came in there was a press love in but then it gets old and they start to twist comments and oppo fans just jump on it and love it
That could be any team
But I genuinely cannot think of a gaffa who didn’t moan - even your Farke’s and Warnocks
Hell - even Potter has had a few whinges
Howe did too ?
There must be one
Stop being sensible Bumps tell some of these chav bellends to go eat a dick.

Yeah we couldn't quite manage it but we battered you at times and you got lucky with a flick on going in, I'm happy with what I saw from us and wasn't impressed with you lot... Well other than your ability to grind out a draw. <applause>
We would have won the game if we kept 11 on the field. We should have been a couple of goals up at half time. You know it.

Exactly. I think we seen two games spoilt recently under the current rules, West Ham v Leicester and Chelsea v Liverpool. I'm not saying reds shouldn't be produced, but maybe an alternative punishment. If someone commits a foul on the pitch that is a straight red, maybe the offer of penalty would be better than sending the player off, regardless of where the offence was commited on the pitch. The decision can be given to the captain of the opposing team, for whatever he feels is fitting the situation that occured. I just think it's a shame a ref is spoiling the game in an attempt to apply the rules consistently.

Tuchel had you playing park de bus football from way before the red mate.<laugh>

From the start of the game Lumping it up to bambi on ice was tuchels only plan.

Anyways does james miss one or 3 games? :D

Tbh, Allardyche's meltdowns over the decades have been comedy gold. And Alan Pardew, the manager who said you can't give a penalty against Palace at home in the last minute of injury-time, even if it is a penalty. :emoticon-0143-smirk

We could argue all day but the fact is he got sent off. If you didn't see that we were the better team in the first half then well, I'll leave it there.

I think that sounds fair but some test will always find a way to screw it up.

I think the most obvious two are the Suarez one in the World Cup and the Robbie Keane one when he played for Spurs

Suarez was just a twat and a pen didn’t help that team and they would have kept Suarez on under your model
That to me should have been a goal given

whereas the Robbie Keane one when he dived on the line with his hands behind his back was a genuine attempt to not handle the ball. Obviously he rotated and the rest is history but how do you undo those two instances with one rule

just leave as is I think is best
For what it’s worth
James knew exactly what he was doing yesterday and got caught trying a cheeky one -
We have all been there (well I have lol)

I totally agree from what I heard Chelsea sounded by far the better team - I just don’t think you can equate that to would have won the game as we all know that just isn’t how football works

either way I think Chelsea in this for the long haul over the season

As I said earlier, he got sent off, end of. I'm over the moon with a point tbh, considering the circumstances. I don't think a point harms either of us tbh.

Who was Newcastle player a few seasons ago who tried to claim that? Then the ref red-carded him and he seemed to say "Okay, fair cop". <laugh>
