Spot on. I would rather have Bellingham than Henderson in midfield even if he was fully-fit. As far as I am aware his main contribution to Liverpool is continuously moaning at the referee so eventually when a dubious call comes up they err in his favour. This talent is negated at international level where most of the refs won't have a clue what he is talking about.

Tbf the refs in England don't have a clue what he's on about either.

They just try to decipher the grunts.

Henderson hasn’t kicked a ball in about 4 months. You don’t come back from a long term injury with instant match fitness, and if at his club he’d be eased back in over a number of weeks. The idea he can go to the Euros without having any game time prior to it, is utterly bonkers imo. If he’s not fit enough to start and put an hour in for the last warm up game, then he shouldn’t be going, simple as that.

Similar for Maguire, the fella was on crutches a week or so back, and yet we’re expected to believe he’s going to be fully fit by the 15th? Doubt it.

We’ve made these same mistakes before, if players aren’t match fit, they shouldn’t be going.

Personally I’d take Ward Prowse now Arnold is ruled out as well, I’ve rarely seen the lad have a bad game & his set piece ability gives England a quality option imo.

I love Hendo as our captain and a cult figure, but he's not Pirlo, ffs. And as you say, it's similar for Maguire - good CB, but he's not Virgil. In both cases we're taking them to play after we get past the group stage (if, indeed), when we'll probably meet a top-notch team, and when both will be playing their first competitive game for months. It just doesn't add up - neither are that good.

Always been that way though.

Cos if they ever had a manager who had the balls to play the best team and not just big names then hed be rinsed at the 1st loss.

Sucky, it's that grovelling, sycophantic turd, Quentin Letts. The summary of the guy is that while at The Hate he wrote, to order, a book lambasting the powerful in the country as being elite and out of touch. Asked why he hadn't even included his own boss at the time, Paul Dacre, he responded that he wasn't a suicide bomber. The guy is to journalism what Howard Webb was to impartial, fair refereeing.

Yeah suppose it’s different when you support a big club. Must be hard for Liverpool fans to cheer on Marcus Rashford, and vice versa.
I think I just like the atmosphere around tournament time. I went to Germany for the 2006 World Cup. One of the best weeks of my life.
