This site operated before the demise of BBC 606 as you know mostly Scottish and Northern English clubs. Spurs board started after BBC closed it's site at the same time as for example Chelsea & Arsenal sites. Initially these three sites were similar in turns of posters and comment rate. Overall Not606 was a far better place to chat than the BBC had been with it's aunties often spoiling decent debate because somebody had said ****. The double standards around swearing are pathetic in the view of many of us. Especially on a football site FFS. But it became apparent in this new found freedom that some posters used it to abuse other posters. When the 3 current Spurs Mods started we spoke together and established a simple code No personal abuse. After a while the wums stopped coming and our job as mods became easy. This slowly over the years attracted posters who enjoyed serious debate but retained their sense of humour. It might interest you to know that most of the banned posters were actually Spurs fans. The Spurs site is now at least twice the size of the Chelsea and Arsenal sites in terms of comments which suggests we have followed the right direction in modding.I will just point out that by far the majority of your posters visit this place on a very regular basis. They are really good posters with both football insight and joining in the general banter (and abuse).including PNP.
What you have built on the Spurs board is a safe place for 2 or 3 posters which limits debate and conflicting opinions (not stop it, just limit).
Nothing wrong with that as such, i enjoy visiting your board (as you may know) and always try to keep within the boundaries, sometimes it's hard to remember though when you are posting on the same thread as several posters that you speak with on here.
We are only modding as long as our posters are happy for us to do it, we regularly ask the board if they are content for us to continue and so far the replies are positive. We do not ban banter just the personal insults. It seems that the users of the Spurs board are happy with the set up and surely it's a good solution of going to neutral sites if you want the kind of comments you get on this site but you are able to have more serious discussions, if you want, on your own clubs site. It doesn't stifle debate IMO it is the opposite effect and it's not just 2 or 3 posters it's all posters.
