Highest EPL transfer for a defender:

... but only Chelsea and Citeh are guilty of trying to 'buy the title' ? <laugh>

Just makes me wonder how football got to this. I can remember Brian Clough spending £1M on Trevor Francis, and I think at the time that was a record for English football.

What the hell makes a player like Pogba worth £94.5M some people have more money than sense.

For someone like Pogba it will factor in all the social media hype...plenty fanboys will pay for the merchandise.

It’s reported that his agent Riola actually made 41 mill from that deal...that’s the bit I don’t get

Reality is that the biggest clubs in all the European leagues attempt to maintain their dominance by buying the best players that are available ... it's always been like that <cheers>

Think the point that some people make is that neither Chelsea or City were "big" clubs before they got bought by billionaires.

Chelsea were at least winning trophies and challenging for CL football and titles before they were bought out but were literally a couple of weeks away from bankruptcy before they were bought.
City were simply dogshit bad. The season before they were bought they set a top flight record of scoring just 9 goals at home all season.

On that basis City bought all their success ... Chelsea bought some of theirs.

All clubs that have periods of domination have bought it to some extent.

United, Liverpool, Forest, Everton, Villa etc have all paid high transfer fees and wages.

I ain't condemning this...I think it is what it is and don't really have an issue with it.

From what I have read, we were regularly spending big in the 1960s , early 70s and early 1980s when we were winning trophies regularly so complaining would feel a bit hypocritical tbh

Do wonder if he’s okay. He seemed like a man on the edge when he asked for his account to be deleted.

Lost his old dear and was wrapped up in the covid conspiracy stuff. Manz mind wasn’t right.

I know he was a dickhead on here at times, well all the time, but I do genuinely hope that he’s not in a bad space still.
