I never said it was a quote, it was merely sarcasm.

He’s done all this great stuff, but the money though. It’s always the same argument from those who want to diminish his standing.

The closest equivalent I can think of is that after Leicester won the league they went on to win consecutive CL and 3 or 4 league cups in 6 years...that puts Clough's achievements into perspective.
Would never down play SAF though. That was a hell of a career at Aberdeen and United.

Clough for me ... and as a Leicester fan it is not easy to heap praise on the achievements of Forest and Derby <grr> ... but Clough actually did a 'double Ranieri' to all intents and purposes, before then winning European Cups ... truly phenomenal.<wizard>

My only memory of Anderlect is them bribing the ref against Nottingham Forest. <laugh>

haha, yeah, it's a similar situation, the hammers channels on YT seem to have been inundated with Slavia Prague fans coming in support (and Algrenians for Benrahma, but they're not happy), even talk of a visit to prague when all the BS is lifted. Wouldn't mind that myself, that neck of the woods is full of history and archeticture.

I find it strange that some people accused Chelsea and United of buying titles (Blackburn too) but get very defensive when it is pointed out that PG at City has spent £660m in 4 and a half years while having world class players such as De Bruyne, Aguero and Silva and three very good players in Stirling, Gundogan and Toure.

I did say I his style of football was brilliant and that he'd won a great number of trophies (and was likely to add two possibly 3 or 4 this year) so I do not believe I was trying to diminish his standing tbf.


I like discussing football and think the PG discussion is very interesting.

I'd have got it if I'd post a wum post but thought it was pretty well thought out for me.

Anyway ... won't bore you anymore... got to let Maureen send me into a come for the next 90 mins
