But I saw a couple of games previously, it always seems as though Son is being stifled out the game by his own team. No where to move, due to Kane, no deliveries into him, give the lad space to do his stuff, and they wouldn't need to park the bus. I thought Jose had worked this out when he went to Spurs, and I applauded him for it, now all I'm seeing is Spurs reversing that bus. Hopefully with Kane out, some positives might come from it, if not I'm happy to accept I was wrong.

To be honest mate, Kane is twice, possibly even thrice the player Son is.

Son's great, don't get me wrong but I wouldn't call Son a world class player, whereas I would with Kane. The only aspect Son has over Kane is raw pace and a bit more fancy skill. Every other attribute Kane easily has over him, he's also a lot more consistent than Son who's been known to disappear for periods in a season. Kane is up there with Modric and Bale (first time around <laugh>) as being one of the best I've ever seen play for Spurs in my life time.

I think Kane is partly victim to that conscious/ subconscious thing English fans have about our country's best players. Seen it many times over the years, Rooney always got slated, Sterling gets **** and Kane does too.

I think I have a problem with managers in general. They rarely think outside the box, and stick with the easiest options and build teams around them. For me Kane and Rooney were typical examples. It's great if you're Maradona, but neither Kane or Rooney are Maradona's, no where near.

Maradona was Argentina. I was sure Jose had noticed what I saw in Sol v Kane, it seemed to last for the beginning of his arrival, but soon returned to the old norm. The games I saw (which were few) was often seeing Sol look lost, he's not vocal enough to make that any different.

I see it often at many clubs, where managers tend to follow the wishes of supporters, scared to do anything different due to the pack getting on their back. I'm hoping that Kane's injury will turn out a godsend for Sol, and if results improve, the proof will be in the pudding so to speak.

For me the top goal scorers are not always your best players, I've said this before on here, how many top scorers, see their team win the league that year. Off the top of my head, I'll give you a Vardy. Kane what does he give you, nowt and I can't see it being any different this season, you've already lost to the top boys.

Football is of course very subjective. What does world class actually mean?

Would Harry Kane be in my line up of a current best XI in the world? ... no he wouldn't. Don't think any British player would - not sure Rooney would have, even back in his pomp. Last one for me would have been Gareth Bale, before that Gaza.

Obviously fans of individual clubs will think differently.

The very best players in the world can turn it on during the big games to the extent that they can change what might otherwise be the outcome. Ronaldo for Portugal in the Euros, Maradona in the world cups and for Napoli, Messi for Barca domestically and in the Chamions league. Being honest, Harry has too often spluttered and fallen short of delivering when it comes down to the squeaky bum moments.

Kane's not just a goal scorer though, he's provided assists for about 90% of Son's goals this season.

Spurs' problem is we've got so much gash around the rest of the squad, in our 25 man squad we have about 5 genuinely good players - Kane, Son, Ndombele, Reguilon and Hojbjerg. Most fans will tell you we wouldn't lose sleep at any player outside of those leaving.

We've had spells where Kane has been out the team before too, some times we've scraped by, others we've looked dreadful. He's a focal point to our team because he's the best player in the team. All teams will generally build their team around their best player, otherwise it wouldn't make sense if you were trying to built it around someone who isn't as good.

West Ham v Milwall is just thuggery. Or it certainly used to be. I used to go and watch both teams when I lived in London and whilst their fans hated each other, the football wasn't up to much. Mainly because Millwall were in the 2nd and 3rd Division most of the time. Bit like Southampton and Portsmouth, you rarely actually play each other.

Millwall cause trouble wherever they go, we're just the ones who have the balls to deal with it.

I agree it's subjective and world class can be interpreted in many ways. For me I think it can be simplified by purely saying is player X one of the very best in the world, in the sense of can you name say 3-5 better players than them in their respective position? If the answer is no then I'd say they're very likely a world class player.

I personally think Kane should be in that conversation for a World XI. Lewandowski, Mbappe and Suarez are probably the other strikers in that conversation.

Kane's problem is similar to what it was when we had Modric and Bale. He's an elite player in a decent team, not a great team. It took for Modric especially to leave Spurs for the rest of the world to realise how good he was. Us Spurs fans had been saying for years he was amazing but fans took no notice because Spurs in general weren't a top side. Now he's had 7 or so years at one of the best in the world, he's gonna go down in history as one of the best midfielders to have played the game.
So when you say the best do it in the big games, we don't have enough big games for Kane to showcase it in because we're not a good enough team to get in enough big games. He had the CL final but he'd been out for about two months prior to that game so he was never match fit. Outside of that, we've had only one other final and that was in his breakthrough season.

I'm a big admirer of Son, I can tell you. but it has to be said that he may have well gone off with Kane at half time for all he did in the second. I'd never noticed before just how reliant on Kane he is.

It's not so much that he's reliant on Kane, but that he's far better coming in from the wing or playing off a proper striker.
Mourinho nullified him by pushing him up top on his own.
