Really annoying that Chelski score again with a shot that wouldn't have gone in if it was a millimetre in either direction. Yes it's well placed but every striker tries to do the same thing and mostly they don't. Their first goal in the last game was the same. There's always a bit of luck as to whether a ball goes in or not. We also got a split second of the screenshot they used to check for offside and it didn't look much different to me from other screens they've showed to prove a goal was offside - a split second either way and you get a different result. And that split second is based on the subjective view of when the ballwas played. It's not scientific it's bollocks.

I get why Mane's goal was not chalked off by VAR. I mean at this stage of the season it's even less likely that VAR are going to do anything that might impede the entitlement of Liverpool. However VAR also gives a second chance (if the ref misses it) to help them. After all, didn't Palace have a goal disallowed when VAR spotted a foul on a Liverpool defender (marginal) that was not spotted just before Palace scored? That goal was ruled out. And that's the beauty of VAR. It can justify almost anything because it's all "scientific" now. And the pundits aren't going to disagree because it's much easier to agree with a decision that goes Liverpool's way than disagree with it. Same with refs and VAR - make a dodgy decision against just about any other team any it's quickly forgotten. Make that same decision against Liverpool and it will be debated to death. VAR is on rocky ground at the moment - there isn't a chance it's going to rule against Liverpool. And before someone quotes decisions that have gone against them - how many points has that cost Liverpool?

This is certainly true of the pundits, where nobody even suggests that there are possibilities that Liverpool aren't as good as they appear. It's worse when the officials get on board as well, but it's linked. Don't give a penalty for Spurs then nobody mentions it again. Don't give one for Liverpool then it's discussed and dissected - and the refs don't want that sort of attention, it's much easier to go with the narrative. I don't suggest for one minute that they've had a meeting to award the title to Liverpool, but even if it's subconscious, there's quite a lot of evidence to suggest that there's bias. As has been mentioned, you just need to look objectively at pens that were not awarded to other teams and compare that to pens that Liverpool have got.
And I also thought that VAR might just even the playing field, instead it's just rubber stamping the original bias, because they won't overturn a decision unless there's a 'clear and obvious' mistake (what the hell defines that, and even if there was I'm sure it would vary by team), and also saying that because VAR is there, then the original decision must be correct. So they're patting themselves on the back on how scientific it all is. Which as we know it isn't - the computer doesn't put a line on the pitch and decide where the line goes, a person does and the technology is not absolute, but they are certainly not going to let us know what the margin of error is.
