Klopp’s gegenpress worked very well today, and City struggled to cope with it. However, it worked well for 80 odd minutes and then seemed to run out of steam, concentration, or both. Against teams as good as City that’s dangerous, as we saw today.

I'm hoping VVD will go some way to organising us at the back. Going forward there's not much better in Europe.

It’s not just the defence, as my post alluded to. It’s the amount of energy, concentration, and intensity needed by the entire team to make Klopp’s preferred way of playing work.

Against teams as good as City if you don’t keep it up for the entire 90 mins, you’re in danger of paying for it. As you very nearly did today.
