    Still world probs mate. I remember seeing a documentary many years/decades ago about the problems on the terraces in the old Yugoslavia, it didn't take much to work out the place was going to end in bloodshed. Thing is with the media, the Daily Malice use to do it, now SKY TV do it, they try to paint it as a football problem, it never has been.

    There’s a cross over between it being a societal issue and the game though imo. Those school kids booing and abusing the black Rangers player the other week in Prague, was absolutely tragic to see, as the game was being played behind closed doors because of their fans racism, and the kids were only allowed in as some form of gesture (which I didn’t understand anyway tbh) After the game the club defended the kids to the hilt. The next generation, meh.

    I would guess the kids got it from the parents, and the country itself has an issue. It's played out in football, more than any other sport, but sadly that's now built into decades of DNA in that sport. It's right to force it out of the sttadiums, sadly the problem dosen't go away, it just becomes hidden - so for example English football stadiums may make claims of stamping it out, but those supporters are still racist, they just know they will get arrested if they voice it.

    Indeed,
    its good that they aren't in stadiums anymore, so they cant abuse the players and they can get on with their jobs without being abused, but it hasn't stamped out anything, they are still racist, like you said. They are just racist in another location.

    What would you say to it at club level?

    I think it's just tribalism at its core. It goes beyond football no doubt because they're a product of their environment but there are all sorts of wider reasons for getting into it.

    Sorry for the confusion mate, it WAS club level I was referring to. It was absolutley terrible on the terraces in the old Yugoslavia, I reckon if you searched youtube, you would find some of it.

    <ok>

    My bad, I took you saying world issues and Yugoslavia on an international level. Whereas you're talking about it as a wider world problem <ok>

    I don't know about Yugoslavia so I'll take a look. But I remember being against the Euros being given to Eastern Europe (can't remember where now I must be getting old) because of what their fans stood for, and it wasn't just the hooliganism but the fact it was a symptom of a wider problem there.

    All Ultras mate, lesson one, don't mess with the Russians. Our flabby gobby kids, thought they would try and take them on, it ended very badly for them. Our lads don't realise a lot of these Ultras are military trained.

    well I didn't know Yugoslavia was on the verge of civil war until 2 days after I got there and they attacked the airport. If I had known, I'm not sure I would've gone.

    Good mate of Sinisa Mihajlovic. The Lazio ultras held banners in his honour when he got whacked.
