Chelsea v Barcelona (19:45 GMT)

Neither Olivier Giroud or Alvaro Morata are up front for Chelsea.

Instead Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian form a floating front three with Morata and Giroud among the substitutes.

In total there are seven changes from the team that beat Hull in the FA Cup at the weekend with only Antonio Rudiger, Cesc Fabregas, Willian and Pedro retaining their places.

That's probably the best team right there imo and Hazard, Willian & Pedro are on fire at the mo.
 
I reckon Chelsea will win tonight but Barca to go through after both legs.

Something like 2-1 Chelsea and then 4-2 Barca.
 
I can see why Giroud and Morata are on the bench, especially with Fabregas in midfield. Conte don't trust Hazard to defend, so by using Willian and Pedro on the wings and Hazard up top, atleast Willian and Pedro will help out Kante and Fabreags in the middle. I'm assuming that is his thinking.

On the subject of Hazard, I wish pundits would stop comparing him to the best players in the world. 8 goals in 36 CL games, at 27, yet apparently he's just below Messi and Ronaldo <laugh>

He's a million miles from the level of Messi and Ronaldo, and that's being generous to him. It's about time he actually backed up all this high praise he gets, starting with tonight <ok>

When he's form I can't help but enjoy watching him play (so long as it ain't against Spurs) as he can be majestic but he's too inconsistent and doesn't dominate games often enough.

He's got the ingredients to be one of the very best but I don't think he ever will be, I think he's peaked, can't see him getting any better.

I don't doubt that Hazard is very talented player, and I do rate the guy. But comparing him to Messi is laughable.

Messi is one of the greatest players of all time without question, Hazard is a million miles away from that level, and always will be.

The pundits need to stop making themselves look silly by making comparisons.

yeah hazard is the level below. He's started showing a bit more recently shooting from outside the box but he suffers from arsenal syndrome trying to beat everyman and doing the spectacular for a goal (like backheeling it or walking it into the net) rather than just banging it in.

He's not even one of the top 5 players in my league imo.

How shocking? Using Morata or Giroud wouldn't be enough to bother Barca's defence. Just thought that Willian and Pedro were back to form and will probably be our best chance of getting something.

we've been **** the past 4 or 5 times we've had hazard as a false 9. We've only started looking okay since we started using giroud as a target man <doh>.

Also Fab at CM when barca are going to pass us off the park and when cesc is going to see the ball.

Yeah Messi comparisons are laughable. Tbh any player that gets compared with Messi is ridiculous, it'll be a long, long time until we see anything close to the level he's been at.

Apart from Ronaldo, who has the goals, titles and Ballon Do'rs to rival Messi.

He is the only player in the last 50 years, who I think is a fair comparison to Messi.

That's just my opinion though <ok>
