I don’t want him sacked mid tournament, I’ve always thought he was a donk, as I remember his only real period in a proper full time management role at Boro, where he was well backed but still took them down. We got lucky in the last WC and he got loads of credit for next to **** all imo.
Fair enough you don't rate him. Like I say I don't particularly either though club management is very different to international. Fact is though he's the only manager this century who hasn't underachieved (yet) and I think we should wait to see where we end up before hammering the bloke. I mentioned this on our board last night but I find it interesting that the 1990 World Cup squad are seen as some form of plucky heroes but 2018 are just deemed as lucky. Both pretty much exactly the same init? We didn't beat anyone of note in 1990 either and had an easy run to the semis.
It just has a familiar air of inevitability to it imo mate. We’ll get out the group then lose to the first good side we come up against, which could well be the round of 16.
Nah. Not many teams have a perfect tournament. That was our **** performance. Like a few have mentioned, we are capable of playing some pretty decent football, and we’ve certainly got the players to do that. I wouldn’t personally change too much for the next game. Probably Sancho for Sterling.
Just a thought here lads. A draw isn't the end of the world. A point is a lot better for us than the sweaties.
Well said mate. We’ve pretty much guaranteed that we are out of the group after two games. Hasn’t been prettty, but I’m hoping that we can feel our way into the tournament. A good performance on Tuesday and this will all be forgotten.
If that's our expectation, i'd rather get a manager in who isn't basically a young roy hodgson. Get someone in who actually wants to attack.
We played two decent teams in Russia: Belgium (twice), and Croatia. We were beaten on all those occasions. The rest were dogshit.
He’s not settled on a formation or style, there’s been little or no continuity & the side has bobbled through games in the main. Defensively they’ve been solid but he’s been playing with 2 DM’s in most games against inferior opposition.
He's playing with two DMs, imo, because we have absolutely no pace whatsoever at CB. I dunno what the answer is to that, but it ain't Marvin Maguire, that's for sure.
Mings & Stones are quick enough, he’s playing with 2 DM’s as he’s as dull as ****, and a bit of a bottler mate.
He was happy with the kneeling but remained upbeat about the possibility of scavaging a draw against the Czech Republic later next week.
That's about right for this squad though, and pretty much all I've ever known with England lol. 2014 & 2016 under the owl aside. We've been a bit unlucky with the last 16 really. 3rd place thing is a bit of a joke really when we could win our group and get France/Germany/Portugal while Wales will finish 2nd and likely get Russia.
