Absolutely, you still never had any guts in big games in Europe. As I've already pointed out to you the actual team that went unbeaten flopped in Europe.

Yeah you got to the final a few years later, when you where tailed off in 4th in the league, and most of that invincible team had left. But your actual best side that contained the likes of Bergkamp, Vieira, Henry and Pires, the team that actually won the titles, never performed in big games in Europe.

Just because you nearly fluked a CL in 06 like Liverpool 05 and Chelsea did with very poor sides, it does not hide the fact your best sides didn't perform well in Europe.

Either way 1 final in all the years Wengers been in charge, doesn't exactly support he's been a successful European manager.
Certainly not as successful as Roberto DiMatteo. <whistle>

The feller reckons everyone bar Utd "fluked" their CL wins or reaching a final in Arsenal's case, John Terry slipping on his arse on the wet surface on his approach taking what would have been the winning penalty and Bayern losing concentration at the end in 99 after bossing the game would suggest otherwise.

But realistically, a club that reaches the final(or wins it)must first qualify over 38 league games, and in our case navigate the qualifying round(s), then get through the group stage, then the knockout stage to reach the final.
So, any ****ing team that wins a final or reaches one deserves it.<laugh>

I’m just happy and a little surprised, I must admit, at how far we’ve come.

We’ve not had the best of draws. The so called ‘group,of death’ and now a team who made 2 of the last 3 CL finals. And we’ve so far more than handled them all.

I’m sure MP is smart enough to know that Juve ain’t dead and buried yet, but if we can do what we need to at Wembley we shouldn’t have any fear after that.

Great result for you last night but you’re correct in being cautious as they will be just as dangerous away as they showed early on last night.

Spurs will easy win at Wembley IMO.

What I watched tonight was a Spurs side that lacked any confidence at the start. But Spurs grew in confidence once they started to realise they are actually a better side than Juventus. And let's face it Spurs are much better on the ball than they are, Juventus where made to look very average. It was almost like watching a repeat of the Liverpool v Spurs game. A nervous Spurs getting sucker punched at the start but then as the game went on actually realising they are better than the opposition and taking the game to the home side.

Juventus for me are just not good enough to compete with Tottenham at Wembley, so I think Spurs will sail through to the QF.

I'm not even gonna go down the road of Juve being past it, as they where nothing more than a park the bus outfit last season anyways. You stick abit of power upfront like in the final and their defence crumbles <ok>
There’s no such thing as an ‘easy’ game against Juve.

That was the first time they’ve conceded a goal in 2018 ffs <laugh>

It’ll be a tight game at Wembley and the tie is still anyone’s to win.

This is spot on.

A CL final by definition is going to consist of two of the very best sides in Europe at that time.

You can’t fluke the whole process of getting there, it’s just not feasible. What happens in the final can of course sometimes be down to good or cruel luck to decide it. But just getting there is some achievement alone.

United are still the only English side to win both the CL and PL, in the same season, and we've done it twice. That's what defines greatness for me.

How can you call yourself champions of Europe, if your not even champions of England.

If you spoke to any Bayern, Real or Barca fan, they too would agree that the greatest sides they've had won both the league and the CL.

Wether Man City can join that club this season remains to be seen, but I wouldn't bank on it<ok>

Exactly <ok>

Of course it is, because its something you realised United have done that your rival clubs havent.
Arbitrary bollocks.
For me, greatness is winning an FA Cup, but only if the guy who scores the winning goal has a first name of Didier, and he is from the Ivory Coast, and he plays for Chelsea.
Infact you cant be great unless you are Chelsea.

<doh> ffs

yeah but you 'fluked' those CL wins because of two lucky injury time goals and because John Terry slipped in the pen shootout.

Its knockout football. I think even you know that Liverpool in 05 or Chelsea's in 12, they where not great sides.

Both clubs had much better teams in other years, that maybe didn't get the luck that those sides got. Chelsea's team probably did deserve the luck, having gone so close and been very unlucky when they did have very good sides. Chelsea's 05 team, or their 08 or 09 side was a lot better than the team that did eventually win it.

So yeah luck can play apart IMO.

Funny that, because what defines greatness for me is winning the title without losing a single game, something that Utd have never done .....

Well we have won it with the highest points total AND the most amounts of wins, that is what defines greatness for me.
And playing in Blue <whistle>

Well, you see that playing in blue part is what let's you down. So no greatness for you I'm afraid <ok>

I don't doubt that that was a great achievement domestically. Il give you that one <ok>

Or that to be fair, but I think your points total will probably go this year. I've said before that your 05 side was a class act, and was unlucky not to do the CL and PL double.
