Yeah I can see referees being sound with being told they’d made a howler by some crocked CB from Scunthorpe.

‘I think you should view the monitor’

‘No i was right”

Guaranteed to work that like.

Ex pros

Ian Wright - 'Aubameyang is clearly 3 yards offside, but it's against Spurs so **** it, let's say he was just on <ok>'

... because footie never stops for some fanny rolling around like they've been shot ... aerosoling free kicks... goal celebrations <doh>

Hardly the same is it ?

Rugby is a game that operates in a stop / start way, scrum downs, line outs etc. It's built into the rules of the game.

Football is a free flowing game, or at least it's supposed to be.

Oh yeah that's the other thing I forgot to mention; ditch off the pitchside monitors.

Why are they needed? We should only be using VAR for clear and obvious errors in which case you don't need the on pitch ref to have a look.

If you have to say "Ooohhh, dunno about that one, you might wanna have another look" then it's quite clearly not clear and obvious.

It should only really be used when you can take one look and go "Nope, you've got that wrong. Needs overturning"

And that highlights one of the major issues: They don't want to overrule their mate.

The technology only looks at trys and serious infringements ... the pattern of the game is somewhat irrelevant to that

No, the point is rugby is far more of stop-start sport. It’s often not used quickly at all even with fewer subjective calls.

You could have 20 people all telling Fosse the obvious and he'll still not see it <laugh>

They’ve not used penalty for a while, so I can defo see him getting an outing today.
I'm not sure, I think Salah may have hurt his vocal chords which means he's just not screaming loud enough at the right pitch.
I'm going for a convenient application of an ambiguous rule.
