My dad was there. It ruined his life and looking back, had a lot to do with me ending up in children homes etc.
I was at Highbury that day. We heard about it on the North Bank because people took little radios with them back then to listen in on other games. First it was 'some people have been hurt', then 'some people have died' then the numbers just kept going up and up. It wasn't until I got home and saw the news that the true scale of the horror was evident. I remember my Mum looking white as a sheet and hugging me when I got home, as she knew I was at a football ground. For anybody who used to go to football in the 80's, that could have been any one of us who died that day.
Would the slurs and cover up have happened if it had been Forest fans? Liverpool & the militant anti thatcher rhetoric made them an easy target, the media portrayed them as scum and I don’t think they would’ve done the same with Nottingham
The Sun had a big problem with Liverpool and the city's strong association with Trade Unions and the Labour movement. Especially in the 80's when Militant Labour ran the city and were directly opposed to the Polices of Thatcher.
Spurs fan in rims Spurs shocker. Good job you respond well to criticism of United otherwise people might think you're being a hypocritical bellend.
I’ve slated United for most of the season, Whereas - @Hoddle Is A God rims Spurs all day to be honest.
Cost less than Naby Savage and is a better player than Naby Savage. Both players nowhere near £50-60m though, we can agree on that. I can’t take anything you say about a player’s ability seriously anymore though, you literally would not shut up about how you’d studied this ***** in games etc and he’s turned out to be worse than Jay Spearing.
Yeah, he seemed to have a good game yesterday. That and the Moura hat-trick suggests maybe your squad is deeper than it looks.
It’s funny, well written (really), not taxing, the headline writers are brilliant; that’s why people read it. It’s also a right wing mouth piece that panders to the worst prejudices of it’s readers, and some of it’s editorial policy has been completely without principle. But it is (or was) the country’s best selling daily because they employ many of the country’s most talented writers and editors. Shame they’ve all sold their souls to the devil, but the devil pays well.
FTFY. I was friends with the younger brother of David Scarboro, who played the original Mark Fowler in Eastenders, they wrote nothing but lies and hounded him to his death.
There's going to be carnage on this board if Chavs do the impossible and beat 'Pool, later. I'm getting my popcorn and tinnies ready.
The difference is Klopp will sort Naby out whereas Fred will end up on the Utd Scrapheap, probably end up at Sunderland.
City is the best team in the Prem by a very long way. They are so strong in every area of the park. Palace can't get near them.
Keith Illingworth, Leeds: If Man City get to 98 points this season after getting 100 last year then they are setting a standard nobody else can live with. Other teams may as well forget the league for the next five years and try and win a cup instead. (Tweet to BBC Football Live) Yep.
