No matter how ****e a place is, once the Stoke lot arrive, it immediately becomes worse.

We had a good chat with some - seemed okay.

They were fighting each other in one of the pubs (the Manchester I think) which the police apparently cleared out.

In fairness we heard infighting and assumed it was Portsmouth!

Riot vans doing the loop most of the day.

Mate of mine booked the B&B and mine had no heating!

Yeah I think it must have been later in the season when I went last time.

Its was busy along the seafront and looked alright with the tower, lights and trams running.

A mix of young familes having fun and football fans and locals getting drunk.

This time, good fun with different groups of fans out and about, but bloody cold with that wind, grey, dog **** on all pavements it seems, rubbish blowing in the wind everywhere, derelict land with more rubbish, houses not painted or repaired since 1975.

I guess thats what happens when an industry drastristically contracts in an area.

Pubs were decent! Can't argue with a round of 6 beers for £10.80!
Will you stop clogging up the take the piss out of NUFC thread with your ****ing Blackpool stories until well after the match has finished please <laugh>

It spirals as well. The quality of everything goes downhill. The usual seaside food etc just looks and tastes sub-standard which makes the whole thing even worse which means fewer ppl will come back. Everywhere becomes underinvested, like you say the state of the buildings and general maintenance. I can understand it when the industry is dying there, it's not like anything is going to turn it around. I think it's the same for a lot of seaside towns nowadays sadly.

Stoke is made up of 6 towns, 2 are Vale, 4 Stoke, lit of in City rivalry, so against other teams they'll stand together, if there's no one to fight, they'll divide into individual towns and have a go at one another, they're that desperate to fight. Walsall is the same but with only 2 areas,

Difficult to know how to turn these towns around.

Sounds lovely.

Sounds lovely.

About 5 yrs ago a group of Eastern Europeans moved into one of the towns and tried to muscle in on the drug trade, within a few weeks, they kidnapped the leader and took his leg off with a chainsaw. Not sure they were the naughty forties though

Are there any good northern seaside towns now?
