37,500 on Ian St John, 30k on Ron Yeats. 230k on 4 more players the next couple years. The British record at the time was 50k. Today that would be like Sunderland spending 70m on each player in the championship.

Arsenal done it in the 1930’s to get them started off, they were known as the BOE at the time.

I saw that documentary as well. Disgraceful, I was shocked, maybe even stunned. Also disgusted.

And it was one of Liverpool's very own who was dishing the dirt. But them's the facts I guess.

I missed the bit about Gibson at United in the 30's though. Turns out that was fake news <whistle>
