How has he wasted them?

Again, a semi final and final. Yes England have some players but so do other countries so this entitlement we have that we should be winning tournaments isn’t correct.

Was it Southgate’s fault that England lost a final on penalties?

it's the style not the results which is lacking .
Nice easy metaphor for you Southgate is Englands Conte and we want Englands Ange Postecoglu .

Winning is the most important thing. If it wasn’t then why keep score?

I’m not saying Southgate can’t improve or I particularly like the style but it works for him and England.

after 7 years i would expect to see a team that can progress the ball up the pitch with swift incisive passing and then create clear cut chances in open play neither of which do we see with regularity from England .
 
Way I see Southgate with England would be similar if I ever saw Pardew or Bruce in charge of Man City.

Chances are City would still finish top three and probably reach a couple semi finals. Would that mean Bruce/ Pardew done a good job? Would it **** with the players they’d have at their disposal.

England’s strong tournament finishes haven't been because of Southgate, it’s been despite having him in charge. The fact the football’s been so laborious too has made it worse, especially knowing we’ve got a wealth of creative and attacking talent.

Does it work if we don’t win anything with this generation of players and a relatively weak group of opponents? There’s no France in 98 or Spain 2010-ish now and he can’t get us over the line. To lose that Croatia match was criminal. To lose against Italy at home with a goal headstart was piss poor.
