No that was the Fairs Cup (which us, Arsenal and Leeds (2) are the only British winners of). Cup Winners Cup continued until 1999 and then was also merged into UEFA Cup, which then became Europa League.
Yes, correct they scrapped the Fairs Cup we eventually won it under both its new names.
I used to say this but realised there's no point as most vast majority of cup winners are in Europe anyway.
Yeah but give it the runner-up or higher placed semi loser or whatever. Would stop some mediocre ****e like Wolves putting the reserves out in the hope they finish 14th rather than 16th.
