Been watching the European Rugby q/f over the past week ... the way those guys behave both in terms of the physicality of the game and the interaction with the officials makes footballers antics so cringeworthingly (if that's a word!) embarrassing... Now my sport was football, so no bias ... just embarrassment with some of the things I see these days ...
I'm sorry, got this all wrong I didn't see the violent conduct bit from Robertson and I've been defending him. Feel a bit embarrassed now. Don't know how I missed it tbh there have been loads of Vids posted and I've not seen that bit once FFS.
You got me thinking I never saw any violent conduct either, so I googled the meaning of it, in the use of football terms. All I saw Robertson do before the actual incident, and I did mention it earlier in this thread, was blow his stack at the lino over something, when Arsenal got a decision. So anyway that meaning.... Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, *regardless of whether contact is made. *
Tired of it, ruins most games I watch, everyone can see it's all faked, yet those in charge do nothing at all. If you go to ground holding your head and the replay shows no contact, then a 3 game ban should be applied for cheating. Since Arteta has been there Arsenal have become by far the worst at it, almost every game one of them pretends he's been knocked out.
@Treble will like your post. It's all getting a bit silly though, this kinda thing needs removing from the game nobody should be able to confront officials like they do in the PL.
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer bloke. Their tactics are awful and he’s pretty unpopular there for that but it’s not really his fault. They’d be five points clear of the relegation zone if the club hadn’t been criminally mis-managed. Bookies have us as third-favourites for the drop now, finally. It’s been coming for months.
predictable empty comeback I suppose But there’s nothing good about getting relegated Flossy. No matter what kind of weak spin you try and put on it.
That's the whole point isn't it. Confrontation at virtually every decision and now players getting touch tight on officials as well. This is not about Robertson per se but what happened on Sunday perfectly highlights why this has to stop. Why not give assistant referees red/yellow cards so they can use them when players are abusing them. The anger and vitriol displayed towards them is a disgrace with the referee usually some distance away and often, like Robertson, the confrontation and absue continues when the ball is somewhere else on the field of play.
Refs should be made accountable for their actions they should have to have a post match presser explaining their decision making Because they don’t have to explain anything they don’t do their jobs properly
What do you expect them to say to explain split second decisions that are often just judgement calls ? Sounds like you just want them to admit they get decisions wrong when we all know that anyway.
