Another question from the last few games, if Otamendi is the answer then just how ****e is John Stones?

I thought Pep had magically improved all these £60 million players with a waft of his magic wand.

Never really rated him. Kompany is far and away their best defender, and he’s only 75% of what he once was.

Stones has always thought he’s a footballer before a defender for me, he’s self indulgent imo.

I’ve said for years that I think his best position will end up being DM.

I find it weird though because I think Otamendi is a decent defender but poor on the ball. Pep obviously likes to play out from the back so would have thought that Stones would be perfect for him over someone like Otamendi.

i don't even think he's technically good enough for DM (top level one).

A lot of ball playing defenders we say should go DM but to be a proper decent one and not a plodder like yacob means you need to be able to control it and play it first time and play it off quickly.

David luiz is great on the ball at CB but when he plays DM, you can tell he ain't no xavi or modric as that spatial awareness and those first time passes aren't there.

I said before we tried to buy him from you i don't see him as a great defender and i still think the same now.

i actually think the same. Otamendi is a great front foot defender, has that tenacity and aggression and the dark arts about him. He definitely needs a partner covering/telling him what to do and i think he's shown this year what a good defender he is when he is free to attack the ball.

not sure how much i'd like him if he has to sit deep and use his concentration but i think he fits peps system pretty well.

Agreed he ain't great on the ball if he's pressured
 
I reckon if Real win we will have all the Spurs fans saying they would've won as they beat Real in the group stage.

So if Liverpool win we can pretend we won as half their team played for Saints
