Ebbsfleet went 2-1 up in the 90th minute and some Ebbsfleet twat threw a flare on the pitch, which resulted in the ref adding 9 extra minutes. You can guess the rest…Dorking scored in the 98th minute and are 3-2 up in extra time
There is a decent youtube channel called bunch of amateurs that follows Dorking behind the scenes. I've watched it for a couple of seasons. I listened to it on the radio whilst I watched Sunderland game. They'll go well next year in the conference.
It's changed since you was there, top half have the money, bottom half don't. Hence why we keep seeing promoted teams keep coming back down. Sunderland have got the support base like Leeds, so they should do well. Southampton just got lucky. You only had to look at Wembley today, it still didn't beat the Gills play-off final record attendance, because of the poor support showing by Wycombe. It look to me empty on their top tiers and Sunderland looked as if they had 2/3rds of the ground.
Bloody hell, I was looking out for their score earlier as well, and saw where Dorking had pulled back to 2-2.
Yeah that's a good point re the top half as the parachute payments have changed since our time and caused the issues we're seeing with teams like Fulham & Watford. 10 years since our promotion to PL. Don't think anyone has done back to back promotions from L1 since?
I'm not sure about Wolves and Sheffield United (back to back) I remember both them in L1 and then later Prem.
Bigger clubs like Sunderland, Southampton, Leicester, Norwich, Sheff Utd that come out of league 1 and keep the squad intact AND have the budget to add 2 or 3 players usually ride the crest of that promotion wave and have a good season or two in the Championship. The smaller clubs who smash it in league 1 but don't have the budget (Wycombe, Burton, Rotherham) not only can't afford to add to the squad but they usually get their best players poached off them. They usually struggle. Then there's Leeds, who had an excellent League 1 team but got promoted, sold everyone, put the money in untraceable off shore accounts and had to start again with free transfers whilst putting prices up because we made the Championship. We call it the Ken Bates model.
So Gentlemen, here we are, last day of the season. Where will the drama unfold, if at all? If Citeh were playing Villa at theirs in mid-season you'd see nothing but a home win .. but the pressure today combined with Villa having some dangerous players could well herald some drama ... Can't see anything but a Pool win against Wolves ... Only Spurs could **** up putting a right one over the goons against Naaaarrrrrich... couldn't happen, could it? Will Newcastle get vertigo being so close to the top half for the first time since rationing? Burnleh or Leeds? ... knife edge Thoughts?
Just one loss in 6 for Everton against Arsenal. Norwich down. Must mean a win for Arsenal and Norwich.
City win with scenes at the end of Gerrard in tears. Sucky playing down Liverpool's failure to win the title, by morphing into Matth2 No problem for Spurs as Son scores at least two and rips the golden boots out of the arms of Salah....more of Matth2 Munse gets dizzy and faints. Leeds to stay up and Burnley to go down, hopefully. Thoughts, pray.
There’s no way Spurs will **** it up against Norwich. Absolutely nailed on to win that game. Not even worth debating.
