Don't think we really need a new match thread for every game as I neglect this place anyway Thoughts on tonight?
Good overall performance, 2 evenly matched sides, fair result. We needed a win to really give ourselves a realistic chance of CL football, so that's now probably evaporated, but I can't complain about the effort that we put in to try & get 3 points.
I thought Vic was shocking, on par with Pienaar. Mirallas showed flashes and Barkley hugely grew into the game. Fellaini was magnificent in the middle as well. For the Sunderland game tomorrow, I'm hoping their overconfidence (going off a Sunderland forum I've been reading, not the one on here) is cockiness and we can bring them all back down to Earth. They seem to think because they beat the mags 3-0 they will end their hoodoo over us. We're a much better side with a much more competent manager than Newcastle though. Osman will probably be injured because he'd play with a broken ankle if he could so I doubt it was just a niggle. I would play: -----------------------Howard------------------ -----Coleman---Jagielka---Distin---Baines--- ------------------Gibson---Fellaini------------- --------Mirallas-------Barkley-----Pienaar----- ----------------------Anichebe------------------ The performance against Arsenal aside, Anichebe has been really good and doesn't deserve to be dropped which is a shame because the way Jelavic plays he seems a perfect match for Barkley playing in the hole.
Vic was great for about 20 minutes & then he got disheartened & started sulking as the big German was winning a few against him. He should have had that big knacker on toast, as he turns slower than the QE2, so he should have looked to hold the ball & turn him at close quarters. Is he ever going to grow up? As for today, 3 weeks ago you'd have looked at this fixture & said "3 points", now, DC's first home game, off the back of a great win last week for them, it looks a different fixture. However, I agree that they're maybe getting a bit carried away here & an early goal for us would smash the optimism around the Stadium of Wind & bring back their relegation fears in the swing of a boot, it'll be a tight one but we need to come away with a win. Massive game again for us, I just hope we've got the legs after Tuesday.
Jagielka injured < Heitinga Barkley < Osman 32s Everton XI v Sunderland: Howard, Coleman, Baines, Distin, Heitinga, Gibson, Osman, Fellaini, Pienaar, Anichebe, Mirallas. ----------------------Howard--------------- --Coleman---Heitinga---Distin---Baines-- ----------------Gibson--Osman------------- --------Mirallas-----Fellaini-----Pienaar---- --------------------Anichebe----------------- I can't explain how much I dislike Fellaini being in that position.
Banana skin time We look poor today like a team of 10 Phil Neville's we are passing backwards when there are good forward options on
That will cheer up Astrodickturf lol Lets hope we can keep 6th now not too fussed on Europa League we wont have the dosh to strengthen for It...
Disappointing end to the season. Thats the Everton way I guess, build you up and then piss all over you. Play youngsters and reserves next match: Howard Coleman Duffy Distin Baines Gibson Fellaini Mirallas Barkley Oviedo McAleny/Vellios
I honestly couldn't care less about them. It doesn't give us a trophy does it? Why is it when we are bad, we are really bad.
Right enough but It would annoy Astrodickturf and his bum chums surely that has to be enough of a reason lol
We FINALLY beat you! Took us long enough! Bad luck lads, would have liked to see you get Champions league, always next year!
Don't say always next yr lol makes us sound like deludapool ha ha I like Di Canio hope you do well with him
It's as lively as a morgue at midnight on here mate. Decent win today I couldn't be arsed going though so I don't know how we played
Just when we needed Mirallas and Pienaar to play well, and they play an absolute stinker.Rest of the team arent much better either. I expected more commitment from them.
