We don't seem to have the X factor when it comes to attracting these established players and we don't have the mentality as a club to attract them through offering competitive wages.

So I don't see it changing but in an ideal.scenario, I agree, we need established experience. There are players out there who can play this role but you have to know your football to find these players since they are not headliners and unfortunately for us, our owners don't know football.

Example:

When Lesta won it in 16...they had Robert Huth who had all the minerals to lead them at the back and he was a previous winner. They also bought Cambiasso from Inter who was in the twilight of his career but had the pedigree of a winner. Both names aren't snobby enough for us though and they both lack the all important 'sell on potential', a non football issue from the handbook of these non football people.
Hopefully this season will be a lesson for the owners that they need some football experienced heads. Unfortunately they have been born into money so will be naive about many aspects of life. We can see the effect of rich kids in the regime running the USA.

This is why I can't understand fans turning their nose up at signing Robertson just because he is coming towards the end of his career and isn't a glamour player.

On the contrary, he's precisely the type of player we need more of. Even if they're not going to start most games, just having them on the training ground and in the matchday squad makes a huge difference.

plus based on yesterday he is a better finisher than any of your strikers <whistle>

Robertson may well be way past his best but he walks into the Spurs team atm. He’s won it all too which always helps.

This is the thing about having the likes of Friedel, Hart or Forster in the squad: they may have played a handful of games every season if they were lucky, but they were far more important to have on the training pitch and/or the dressing room

Hope so but these owners have had 25 years to learn and they don’t seem to be.

An escape from relegation should be the ultimate kick up the backside

I meant they’ve had the final say for decades now. It wasn’t like they weren’t at the club before Levy left.

Still the same family and company calling the shots
I think Joe Lewis must have been happy with Levy for making him even richer. I am not sure what involvement these family members had. Joe Lewis himself appeared to take little interest. Its probably significant that Joe was taking a back seat leaving it to younger family members who move in sack Levy and end up looking at a financial catastrophe in the making. The lesson is clear; without the football their asset is drastically damaged.

Ignoring stuff they don’t like

You’re always quick to remind me of rules and to play nice (which is fine) but I don’t see that same ‘moderation’ with others
I am not reminding you of rules I am debating your point. As far as I am concerned you have not broken any rules.

You have picked up flack from others I am aware of that. As this is a debating forum you can expect that. You can private message the mods. If you detect a problem.

Problem is they seem to be un-learning things

Most boards would have picked up on things not being right with Frank the second or third time our players blew up at the fans in a short space of time, or when he had the team spend 45+ minutes trying to park the bus to defend a 1-0 lead over Sunderland, or being 2-0 down to Fulham in six minutes, or losing 3-0 to Forest, or...

Our board saw all of these in the space of a few weeks, and somehow kept coming to the conclusion that there was nothing to be concerned about

Frank should have probably been dismissed earlier but the real issue for me was appointing Tudor. It was a disaster of an appointment.
