That may be correct, but getting rid when we did was yet another poor decision. We were going in to a new season on the back of a 'success'. The players - most bang average - were at least by and large with him I think and the risk of giving him a couple of months was maybe a lot lower than what has transpired.

I'm not saying Ange was a good coach by the way, and in all likelihood we would started the PL season as we finished the last. Just that the optics and justification to get rid would have been stronger.

But heh - why would this club be expected to make a good decision on the playing side? <laugh>

Last season wasn’t a success though

Spurs finished 17th and lost 22 league games with 38 points.

I don’t buy into the whole he chucked League games to focus on Europa.

Sacking Ange was the right thing to do, Thomas Frank in hindsight wasn’t the right replacement but I don’t remember many at the time saying that.

I agree, if defenders are gonna shield the ball, they have to expect contact from the opponents, Romero wasn’t strong enough and got injured because of it.

I totally agree, but that is not how games are refereed these days, any contact in a defenders back generally results in a foul being awarded and there was more contact from Brobbey than In 90% of the occasions where a foul is given, on this occasion Romero did nothing wrong (there are plenty of occasions where he is at fault, but in my opinion not on this occasion)

I don’t think the contact is as excessive. Don’t know if Romero didn’t expect it or was just off balance but I don’t think it was a foul

Same, it was a case of knowing he couldn’t manage in the Prem and thus using Europa as a reason to “throw” Prem games. The warning signs were there halfway through his first season. I’m grateful to him for winning us Europa, because I think he’s the type of guy who can motivate players to get over the line in such a game but as a tactical coach/ manager, pretty abysmal by all accounts. His management was/ is a catalyst for why Spurs have become so bad, Frank then (unexpectedly on my part it has to be said) couldn’t improve us and so adding that to air head Lange above them, it’s left us in the ****. Many, many years of bad decisions from so many people. To be responsible of relegating the sixth biggest club in the country and one of the top 20 in Europe takes some utter idiocy and incompetency. Worrying such ****ing helmets are in incredibly powerful footballing positions.

Also has to be said one of the biggest potential positives about Ange, that he let his assistants handle training in much the same way that Rangnick does so that in theory there was a coaching pipeline in the making, also got torn up in the summer with Ryan Mason and Matt Wells joining West Brom and Colorado rapids respectively

That it appears Mason wasn't an option when Frank was jettisoned does say something about the board, too, as it seems their moves all season are motivated by not wanting to do what Levy did...so we persisted with Frank between 4-8 weeks longer than Levy would have, rejected the idea of having Mason fill in when he had shown a better affinity with the way the players want to play and reasonable skill when drafted in before, and so on

I don't think there was ever any evidence that Mason was a good enough option.

The reality is you could put Worzel Gummidge in charge of a team containing prime Kane and Son and he'd do reasonably well.

I've agreed with all of the coaches being sacked since 2019 (including Poch). The problem has been that the replacements have been getting less and less suitable and/or capable.

Ange was a sign that we'd reached the bottom of the barrel. Keeping him wasn't a serious option (IMHO). His tactics were sooo easy to defeat and he was so pig headed that he wasn't going to change them.

I specifically didn't say the 'season' was a success. It patently wasn't! But winning a trophy was.
In all likelihood, nothing would have significantly improved, but the timing of the decision imo was wrong.

Why was the timing wrong?

There was no point sacking him while Spurs were still in Europe and they couldn’t sack him the day after the season ended because he won Europa.

He admitted he knew he was getting sacked as early as January but chose to say the season 3 is always better line.

I didn't agree with sacking Poch. An absolute nonsense compounded by the nonsense of replacing him with Mourinho who we clearly never had any intention of properly backing.

Poch deserved at least until the end of the season.

Somehow we're getting blamed for Brobbey getting racist abuse on his socials

That a large percentage of the abuse was in Spanish and from people using non-Spurs avatars says that, while some of our fanbase were that bellended, the overwhelming majority is from Argentina fans fearing their vice-captain could miss the World Cup

Because ultimately they aren’t the reason Spurs are going down.

Genuine question, do you think Spurs lost today because of the ref?
Probably not, but if. Bobbey had got a yellow for one of his previous bad fouls he may have not risked a red by stupidly pushing Romero into Kinsky, causing a season ending injury for one player and a possible concussion for another. If Sunderland had 10 men for the the last minutes we may have got a a goal. The referee had a very bad game in my opinion.

With our strikers, still very doubtful.

All the people calling the shots when it comes to the football, haven't kicked a ball in their lives

they don't get it
You have said this before and it gets overlooked. Reminds me of when we were in the Premier league with Ellis Short and always fighting relegation. Our boardroom was filled with solicitors, accountants and even a politician. Run the club like a business with no football knowledge when it come to signing the right players and getting an identity for the playing team.

Now we have former players with contacts to clubs all over Europe, they have knowledge and an understanding of players that go into our system.

Makes a huge difference.

But Brobbey on Romero wasn’t a foul a the injury is irrelevant to that.
