The Pink Un @pinkun Which, of course, all makes perfect sense as it will be late November leading into the three-month long British winter by the time they return. WTF? Surely Scandinavia or Russia, for severe cold weather training would make far more sense on Nov 12th?
Don't think they're going there to acclimatise. It's not like altitude training before a Bolivian world cup. Probably quite useful training in warmer climates than Colney but as JMF said probably more to do with sponsors demands than anything else.
I think it's the increased daylight and reliable weather which aids training. Means they can do two sessions a day, with appropriate recovery in between. No risk of waterlogged training pitches either. Tampa rather than anywhere else for commercial reasons.
10) Austin left hoping FA will see the funny side of ‘joke’ rant Charlie Austin is likely to discover on Monday if he faces an FA charge for labelling Simon Hooper’s decision to incorrectly rule out his goal in Southampton’s 1-1 draw with Watford a “joke”. Austin’s reaction was startling but also justified on what was a dreadful afternoon for Hooper – earlier in the game he failed to award Watford a definite penalty. Going back to his first game as a Premier League referee, Crystal Palace’s 3-1 victory at Norwich in August 2015, he also made a howler in ruling out a Cameron Jerome goal for a high boot. Yet given Hooper’s lack of experience – the match on Saturday was only his fourth in the Premier League – he perhaps deserves less criticism and more sympathy. More broadly, he surely deserves help in the form of VAR, something Austin also called for during his tirade. Sachin Nakrani I'm not sure I have any sympathy for Hooper, the man is utterly incompetent and should be demoted to Sunday parapallegic under 6 football, a game he might actually keep up with. Worst ref out there, but still getting games in the PL. Not many, but how many times must he prove himself unworthy before they shuffle him off to the lower leagues? Bah!
Just seen the odds for the next manager at Fulham from Paddy Power - Alan Pardew 8/11 Claudio Ranieri 4/1 David Moyes 11/2 Sam Allardyce 7/1 Steve Bruce 14/1 Chris Coleman 22/1 #everyonealoser #playingsafe
In fairness, I wouldn't write Chris Coleman off yet, it was a very stupid decision to go to Sunderland but I think there might be a good manager in there somewhere. As for Allardyce, he is not a desirable option from a viewing public perspective and it is definitely a big departure from actually playing football for Fulham. But I don't see how he can be put in with the perenial failure-go-round he has mostly played it ugly but results have been decent. Fulham like any one else must decide if his football is a price worth paying to probably/possibly stay up. Bah!
Good point re CC and as you say, Sunderland was never a wise move for his career and also Big Sam could be appointed.. I certainly wouldn't bet against either in hindsight!!!
ALthough with CC, does his CV really warrent a tough PL gig? Whilst I wouldn't write him off as yet, I think he needs to be rebuilding his reputation after sunderland with a Championship club. If I was Fulham I would only look at him with a longer term view of maybe coming back up upon probable relegation. He definitely would be a far bigger gamble than fat Sam if they harbour ambitions of staying up. Bah!
Very sad news coming from Brentford FC tonight. Thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP young man
