Lallana and Ings combine to put Liverpool up against Carlisle.

Nice to know they've found their level :)

This thing about Beckham not being world-class. I didn't think that would be an issue. However, I've seen a fan poll and 75% suggest he was. Just shows what the average fan knows.

Beckham was not world class, but he worked hard at what he could do. There are more naturally talented players out there who could learn from him. I always think of Beckham when I listen to JWP...he apparently puts in those extra miles in training that Becks did.

I think Beckham suffers from what a lot of English players have done in that he's get overrated criminally by so many but it leads to many criminally underrating that. I think a lot of that is due to the media frenzy that followed him everywhere.

For me he was never in that top bracket of player, but he was a very very good player, and world class when it came to set pieces and his crossing. Rarely lost the ball either and carried England for years. Strong character as well as seen after WC '98 had a hell of a season for United.

It depends how you define world class, I mean the guy played a huge part in Man Utd winning the treble in '99, England qualifying for the World Cup in '02, etc. He was also the runner up in the Ballon D'Or & World Player of the Year in the early 00's, losing out to Rivaldo (I think).

He may not have been a complete player, but I think he was world class when at his peak, he influenced games in a way that world-class players do, just in his own way.

Interesting fact - he was born in Whipps Cross Hospital - if that isn't a nice piece of nominative-determinism, then I don't know what is.

n.b - the term 'world class' needs to die

We shouldn't even be surprised by Mourinho any more...incapable of admitting he is wrong and an expert at passing the buck. His team is doing badly, so let's blame a medic called onto the pitch by the ref. I am merely surprised he didn't blame her and her assistant for everything else that happened up to that point. Complete arsehole.

I've been really disappointed in Mourinho over that affair and his general demeanour lately. His behaviour has bordered on the psychotic at times, open to no other opinion at all, and when he finds he can't control a situation he finds a scapegoat. Poor.

I thought, the other day, that it wouldn't do us any harm to offer Eva a role at SFC. I wonder whether they've considered it..?

If World Class is the definition of being one of the best in the world at doing something and Beckham doesn't qualify, then there must be a huge number of players from that era that could deliver a cross of absolute top quality.

There's a lot of assumptions in that article, but what do we really know about what happend? We know that Mourinho criticized both of his medical staff in public and that was pretty poor. They were then both suspended but we don't know for sure whether she has been hounded out of the game. The Telegraph assumes sexism is behind it all but conveniently ignores the fact that one of the medical team was a man.

I have never jumped on the sexism bandwagon...Mourinho is a very even-handed arsehole.

Good article ? To me it reads like a lot of assuming by Oliver Brown and a lot of pandying to the PC brigade. i doubt the journalist knows how good or bad this doctor was or if it was sexism or not - but she is an attractive female so it MUST be sexism. What a load of b.....ks.
