    Agree about Aluko,

Seems to try to do too much and ends up losing the ball, or getting in the way, more often than producing something.

Kirby however you feel something is about to happen....also thought this with Duggen

Kirby seems quite the player. Tbh, I'd never heard of her before until last year when she started lighting up the WSL2. She's continued to do so this year as well... I think she has a good future ahead of her.

No but she has pace so she fits the English mould of attacking players! You look at the technical ability of the tiny Japanese players and you see the difference. Still at least Hope Powell is no longer in charge or we would still be playing hoofball and players such as Kirby would never get a chance as they were too diminutive and Fara Williams would no doubt be dropped again, despite having the most vision of England's midfield.

Watching Costa Rica vs S Korea at the womens world cup. Korea lead 2-1. Entertaining game, high pace and end to end, but the defending is so awful. It almost seems like a competition as to who can perform the most hilarious error or most needlessly misplaced pass straight to an opponent.

Sounds quite like the Premier League's defending last year too!

Tbf, I think the pitches don't help with the defending.

TBF, I do have sympathy with the players having to play on artificial pitches.

They don't look very good ones either in some cases.

Why's that worse for the defending? Is the ball bouncing awkwardly?

Passing gets effected as well. I have seen most of the matches and it slows the ball down loads or changes the direction a bit. Some times the ball bounces weirdly, yet another time it hardly bounces at all.

There was a lot of fuss about the women's world cup being played on artificial pitches. The argument was that the men's world cup wouldn't be played on artificial pitches, so why should the women's world cup? They have a point and it seems to way the pitches are affecting the ball so much makes the debate even more pertinent.

The bounce I can see on poor quality pitches, but slowing the ball down? Really? I haven't seen the games so genuinely asking. If an artificial pitch is slowing the balls down in places then it suggests it's not got an even length "cut" which I find incredible. One thing an artificial pitch would normally give you is an even pace of roll, assuming an even pace of pass.

You sure it wasn't just some "girly" passes under hit

*sits back and waits for PL to accuse me of sexism*

Yeah some of the pitches slow the ball down. A few of the commentators are ex England ladies players. They said a lot of the players (not just England) are complaining that some of the pitches play really slow.

They must be shocking quality then. One of the benefits of good artificial pitches is that you good a consistent roll compared to grass. The days of the Loftus Road carpet are long gone!

Mark Warburton is the new Rangers manager. Didn't see that coming.
