No this is not fiddling a la France, this is a technical issue of whether election spending is allocated locally or nationally. It would hardly be mentioned if it happened in France.
It is strange that most of the politicians in both countries happen to be from right wing parties. Le Pen has been taking money from the EU, as Fillon has, both under false pretenses just the same as Farage. There is no difference.
In the UK most of the MP's caught fiddling expenses were from the Labour Party. In France you can add Sarkozy, Chirac and Lagarde, Juppe etc, it seems almost obligatory for politicians to fiddle in France.
Thirty Tories to be exact - and it's difficult to see how any SNP, or other party, MPs could have been involved in [HASHTAG]#toryelectionfraud[/HASHTAG]. They are the ones being investigated, they are the ones with MSM on their side, and they are the ones who would have gleefully leaked like the proverbial sieve if other parties were in any way complicit.
In France it is probably easier to list those that have been caught fiddling and the rest yet to be caught!
If you checked it out you would find that just as many Tories were fiddling expenses as Labour. Then of course you can add such as the Hamiltons who were great with the brown envelopes for access. Sorry SH, but they are all trying to feather their nests, no matter which party or country you are in.

The number of MP's who were convicted or pleaded guilty in the expenses scandal was 6. All 6 were Labour Party MP's. 'The outcome of the Telegraph investigation strongly suggests they are much more likely to lie, cheat and steal than members of other parties.'

In France it is easy to find out what is going on as it is a much more open society and things are brought out into the public domain quite quickly. Le Pen has a whole list of allegations against her, including accepting money from Russia which could be illegal under certain circumstances. She is refusing to cooperate with the investigators until after the elections. Fillon is doing what a Tory MP did, claiming for family doing work that never actually happened. The opponents of Macron have been desperately looking for something to hang on him, without any luck. Until we have a new breed of politicians who really believe in being servants of the people, we will continue to have dodgy goings on.
And how many did Cameron get from his party to repay monies they had claimed wrongly? We could go further back if you want.
It took ages to finally get Lagarde to court. Strauss-Kahn also got away with murder for years. It is a shame Fillon has messed up as he would have been the best candidate by a country mile.
Obviously not in the same league as those LP MP's which the DP decided to charge.
My only comment on this election will be to ask all posters to be civil to each other. We know that there are differences of opinions but I hope that we lose no-one from this site because of insults on this thread. Nothing anyone says here will make the slightest difference to the outcome of the election.

You would only get such type of posting in the cheap tabloids. I thought you read better papers than those SH?
There were many facts in my posting, to get through another election you need a bit of humour. Madam Abbott can well look after herself.
I read many papers online for free but only buy the Times and Telegraph at the weekends, my daughter needs them for her guinea pig cage!!

Hopefully I can help balance things out then............... since my dear mother passed away we have cancelled her subscription to the Telegraph and now are back on the middle ground and excellent reporting in the Guardian which is also totally safe to recycle as the inks are eco-friendly... unlike the cheaper poison in some other papers such as the Telegraph

Lagarde was convicted of paying an individual 400 million euros of public money against expert advice. If it had happened in the UK she would have been hounded out of British politics for gross incompetence at least.
Six others, including her former chief of staff are being investigated for fraud.

I'm hoping the guinea pigs disappear, but would not like them to be poisoned by the right wing press!!
I very rarely go to London but a couple of years ago Diane Abbott walked past me just off Trafalgar Square. I think she had been at rally to save an endangered species. I'm not sure which one but it may have been 'the traditional Labour voter'.
