Off Topic General Election

I think you are getting a bit carried away with the hype. The sensible commentators realise the enormous task this extremely inexperienced politician has in gaining support from other parties. He is already unpopular with both the left and right, it is very doubtful anything will change. They should have chosen the fiddling Fillon.

Hardly SH. If you were watching French TV you would realize that all the other politicians, with the exception of Le Pen are lining up to offer support. Stop saying what you wish had happened and accept the fact that he has a better chance of success than the tired old faces of the past.

A few platitudes from some of the 'old faces' is quite different from negotiated policies. With limited support from his own party he will be pulled all ways leading to a stalemate. Hopefully it will take longer than a week for France to recognise they have again elected a dead duck for another five years. He has a much smaller chance of implementing the vital reforms than a Gaullist would have done. It is like electing Corbyn to lead the UK, perish the thought!

What is going on over there ofh? Someone isn't happy...:)

If you have read the comments from the press items over the past couple of months you will find an attempt from the same sources to spread false information. Different names have been used, but the wording has been so similar that there is little doubt it all came from the same place. There were doubts about the referendum, evidence in the States, and certainty that outside influences have been at work here to support Le Pen.

The Labour Party are coming across with a raft of strong and popular policies with some good rationale. I think they will gather more voters if they can overcome the negative media images
And, now that the CPS has handed down it's decision, not to mention the obscene amount of money the Tories will think they can spend with impunity on 'election expenses'. :(

Fake news or just more of her downright lies? May's statement on CPS decision -

- only we haven't seen that at all, as the Electoral Commission have confirmed.

This is actually happening in Dorset. When will the government comment?

Having read around a bit on this NHS issue, I find that Dorset is not the only place in the country that is offering a two tier health system. An example from Surrey.

Fees
GP
First consultation with new patient check £95
Consultation
£80
Home visit (additional travel charges may apply) £160
Telephone and email consultations
(registered patients only)
£40
Essential health check
£260
Comprehensive health check

Virgin Care are now buying up practices, and are making them profit generating businesses. 15 years ago our dentist in England said that they would no longer be doing NHS work, and gave us an invitation to buy private insurance. Leave them and go elsewhere you might say, but they were the last ones in the area to still do NHS work, so there was nowhere to go.
1.5 million private individuals in the USA filed for bankruptcy last year, with over 70% saying it was because of health bills, and the vast majority had some form of insurance they had paid for.
Meanwhile back in Dorset, central Bournemouth has 10 sites, used by seven practices, and this could be reduced to just three. The Primary Care Commissioning Strategy and Plan, revealed 'super-surgeries' with up to 50,000 patients could be introduced in a radical shake-up of GP services.

This is what is happening on the ground now, so it is no wonder that May doesn't want to talk about it.

Explains why it is now virtually impossible for me in a Leeds practice to see my own Dr... a walk in service is now the norm.... and no continuity of care with your GP

Labour's manifesto has been leaked. They propose to take us back in time to the heady days of Michael Foot. Nationalisation and extended union power, all fully costed by er... Diane Abbott......

The idea of a breakaway party by Labour MP's is looking more feasible by the day. It could be the end of the Labour Party as a political force. At least it will check the popularity of some of Cologne's ideas, great fun.

Quite right. But they won't. That's the state of our 'democracy'. We invade countries to install 'democracy' and this is the laughable state of ours.
