When two of the closest people in your life are diagnosed with life changing ( in one case ) and terminal( in another case) illnesses within a week of each other you tend to sharpen your perspective/ focus on what is important to you.

On how your time, emotions and energy are spent.

Maybe my moral compass needs adjusting to incorporate the needs of others and maybe I'm being a selfish **** in not really overly caring about the needs of refugees from the Middle East who I'll never meet.

Must try harder.

Reactions: Leon...
I agree with the first two sentences.

Would have to dispute the third as saying the TUs were selfish is wrong - it was the members who voted - ordinary workers. You could argue they were misguided.

Maybe not selfish...just very short sighted in not realising Ed was a loser, so they landed their party with a lame electoral duck. He'd bribed them to get their support, but at the expense of the bigger Party and general public.
They needed Noel but got rooked into voting Liam.

Genuinely sorry to hear that.

Apologies if I came over as a bit arsey.

In your shoes, I wouldn't be thinking about anything else.

Didn't Corbyn get elected as leader because of a social media campaign which urged people to join the Labour party at a cost of a couple of quid.

I think history supports your summary - although I wasn't into the other Milliband to be fair.

28 minutes to polls closing...BBC exit poll will be on the money...

When I went to vote at 8 tonight...Turnout was only about 40%....Could be bad news for Labour...

Scaremongering?

Demonising?
Common currency in electioneering/referenda propaganda.
UKIP regularly get branded fascists, bigots, nazis by the Ian Hislops of this world (from his hilltop) Sussex farmhouse. Some may genuinely think along those lines, others realise it's a very effective smear and means of closing down an argument.
Pot kettle black

How did you get such a precise turnout then when...

It's not been calculated or published anywhere?

I think Labour will win.

Ha.

Seriously. What’s everyone expecting then?

I think an increased Tory majority sadly.

Hopefully 40-50 seats tops but…

It literally could be anything from a 100 plus, to just a handful.

Apparently Tory HQ are 'less bullish' about their chances, but Tories on the ground are, erm, bullish.

A I recall it was a Labour female MP who nominated Corbyn - in the interests of balance.
Don't think she or anyone else thought it was owt else but a token gesture at the time.

True. A lot regretted it - which is also evidenced by the twattish actions of the PLP

I opened thy mouth and asked the chap behind the counter...40%...if that is across the city then Labour have failed to get their vote out.. Hence a swing from Labour to the Tories, but not enough to stop Labour winning in Hull, but if that is repeated across the country then Labour might be in trouble..

PS...I've got a degree in BS Politics.. bs stands for Bullshit

It's wrapped up in Hull anyway.

According to various sources, turnout has been good to high across the country.

But I can't vouch for these sources, so who knows?

In Hull its a foregone conclusion...Corbyn would have to be a mass murderer, and TWS fan for people in Hull not to vote Labour. Turnout in Hull is probably down on the national average..No surprise there then...

I know this might spoil the ****-bank for a few on here, but for the rest, what more incentive to vote Labour do you want?

If she'd taken Lilly Allen, Russell Brand and Joey Barton with her, I might have given it a thought.

So isn't "for...the...many...not...the...few.." not a soundbite?

Always seems to say it slowly too, like either he doesn't quite know what he's saying, or he thinks the people he's talking to are stupid and won't get it.

Anyhoo, just to be on the safe side here...

Labour are gonna win this 4 nowt. Nailed on. FACT.

You Ull.
