I believe he's trying to work out what the hell just happened to his predictions. Must rankle. "Insert warky type patronising emoticon here"
Good to see the UK electorate is helping shape it's own destiny and not letting this callous bitch steamroller all but the super-tax brigade From the Times today:
I only wish I had invested in Humble Pie manufacturers. The demand from journalists, politicians and commentators must be immense!
Interesting to note that the Tories polled more votes and vote share than Blair did in the landslide of 1997! Labour went backwards and polled roughly the same amount of votes as Brown did in 2010 and still reckon that they won the election!
Eh? Brown won 8.6m votes in 2010 Corbyn won nearly 12.9m. That's almost a 50% increase, which is huge.
2017 Conservatives got 42.4% of the vote, 1997 Labour received 43.2%, so not quite. Comparing raw votes is fairly pointless due to the changing size of both the electorate and turnout.
Only because the Lib Dem vote has collapsed and the UKIP vote was spread evenly amongst the Tories and Labour. I admit that May ran an awful campaign and deserved a good kicking but the reality is that despite that she is still within her rights to form a government. Labour are nowhere near achieving the numbers to form a government.
Only because? Not because of the opposition offering up something that looked and is a whole lot better. According to the rules she doesn't have a majority and therefore no right to form a government without the 'help' of the DUP. And what a bunch of backward looking folk they are. Teresa May's delusions appear to be shared by many of her supporters.
It was a complete balls up by May and the people in charge of the campaign. It was not won by Corbyn, it was lost by May. For any candidate standing in GE they should know that in order to appeal to the aspirational middle classes they need to engage, not hide away. May came across as an elitist who hid away and did not engage the public. This played massively into the hands of the Labour party and I think she should go to be totally honest. She couldn't of got it more wrong. The nail in the coffin was refusing to appear in the live TV debate. That was a stupid decision. The manifesto was weak and she refused to discuss it or defend it in public against the opposition. Silly. Still, even though May ran an awful campaign the Tories managed to take a large chunk out of the SNP and I was very happy that Salmond lost his seat. Hopefully Indyref2 is now dead and buried and the SNP realise that they are flogging a dead horse in regards to independence.
