So I guess its time to bring you guys up to date on my position.

I think most of you know that I was diagnosed with stomach cancer back in May/June. The prognosis was good. I was to have 3 rounds of chemo, an operation to remove my stomach, 2 final rounds of chemo and I'd be sorted.

Well last week the chemo ended and I had another CT scan to see how the chemo had done and I returned to the hospital last Wednesday for my pre-op appointment.

Well unfortunately it hasn't worked in the way we'd hoped. The tumour has now grown into my pancreas. This means that the operation is pointless now and they can do no more for me other than to keep me going for as long as possible. There is the possibility of an immunotherapy trial which starts next month or some more chemo.

Anyway, we're talking just months now not years before it takes me and I may well not be around at the end of the season to see if we win promotion!

Its all a bit of a bugger really!!

Sure is, sad sad news mate, this has been a tough but inspiring read, keep on posting.

Have delayed replying simply because I did not know what to say. Hopefully when/if I find myself in the same position I will be able to use the same outlook you have. Love and strength to you and your family. xx

Thanks Fenton. I know you've had your own issues as well petal.

You have my own warm wishes right back at you and yours.

I’m so sorry and saddened to hear this news. I don’t really know what to say but I hope the doctors are able to keep you as comfortable as possible! I hope you are able to see the lads gain promotion as a final swan song. Take care mate.

Any update

Hi Vince. I'm copying here a pm sent to someone earlier with his permission. I've amended it slightly where appropriate.

At the moment we're waiting for an appt to come through from the Royal Marsden in London for a second opinion.

As soon as we (my wife and I) know the date we're sorting out a break to Venice, and then we're off to Edinburgh, so we're not in a position to talk about dates yet.

I'm going to try and sort a matchday out and pick up 'Joe' on my way up. I'm hoping Nov/Dec so I'll let you and everyone else know what dates we're talking about.

But, and its a big but, I may only get the 1 chance to come up for the one game, and so I won't do so unless Joe can make it as well. We'll be coming as pair or not at all.

It means that much to me that he be there. He and @CBD saffy.

Thanks for asking mate. I'd love to make it happen, to meet you and every guy on here.

Give me a couple of weeks to hear from the Royal Marsden, and then we can look to sort a match out.

Best wishes Vince

Paul

I desperately hope for you and Joe's sake that you get up here to meet everybody.

From a personal and selfish point of view, it won't be the end of the world. If you can't make it up here, I'll come to you <ok>

I've been thinking about you today. Our phone calls when I was out in the back garden yapping away and you really helped me at that time, mate.

The change you made in my life (it's always the little things) I used to eat my bacon and sausage sarnies with red sauce on, but after reading you keep going on about it, I tried HP and I've never went back. I had a sausage and bacon baguette breaky this morning from Greggs, that's when I started to think about you. I'll never be a red sauce heathen again, now!

Thanks for that, thanks for being supportive, thanks for just being you even what I got it wrong.
