Since I've stopped using Twitter, the world doesn't seem so bad. I feel that social media is not a true reflection of what's going on, especially when the algorithms used are feeding you similar stuff that you've hovered over. You end up in an echo chamber of hate. The world is not as social media portrays it. Go outside and I rarely meet anyone, or see events like the craziness getting posted online.
I don't really come across openly racist people, I don't bump into translunatics, neither do I hear conspiracy crazies preaching on every corner. The one exception I suppose are the Hamas supporters - there's no helping them.

**** Twitter - it's just a place for online radicalisation.

Rant over.
I think I am coming to that conclusion too, I had issues with my account, it got suspended then I got an apology and it was reinstated, but it has not worked correctly since, so I decided to close the account down, I am staying of twitter site for a while as it is now depressing me.....<ok>

Good decision Phil. I’m certainly not wound up as much now that I’m off there. It was depressing me - I’d been looking for a way to move abroad as Twitter was making the UK seem such a hell hole. I take a walk down the beach now and it all goes away just by speaking to people in the real world.

Yes I agree with that completely, I have a Norman long house out in the sticks in Southern Brittany near Vannes, it is my bolt hole should things go pair shaped in the UK, but living as I do on the Gower coast 10 minutes from all the beaches, does make this mad world seem a long way away, I think twitter amplifies things, particularly the political battles which are now getting cult like, so much fanatical garbage being spewed, particularly from the left. So giving myself a good break, glad you posted that, because you affirmed what I was thinking...<cheers>
