Anybody else notice that the head of the Egyptian Football Federation is called Gamal Allam? Any relation?

Depends. Is Egypt like other Muslim countries where there's only three different names to choose from?

There are 80 people in the Egyptian national team set-up, none of them are called Allam, so I assume not(In fact, they pretty much all have different surnames).

The moment of truth is approaching, Tommy. Looking forward to Tuesday's miracle?

Nigeria and Ivory Coast are through; Cameroon v Tunisia today.

Yes - and it's not people betting on long-odds outsiders like Egypt coming back to win from 5 goals down.

The bookies LOVE it when long shots come in, as they make more profit that way. If all favourites (by some miracle) won every race and match they'd lose a bundle.

I'd be surprised if that held. You see it when they're not sure who's going to win that they can both be odds on as they know the money will be split evenly and it guarantees they're up at the end (I'm going for something like tennis with a definite outcome). They're going to apply the same principle elsewhere. For a 2/1 to cost them money it would need more than a third of all the money bet on the race to have been placed on it for them to be down.

Yeah, perhaps 'lose a bundle' was putting it a bit strongly as their built-in profit margins shouldn't fail. But in horse racing in particular, they'd make a lot less.

One slight flaw in that logic is who does singles? A 2/1 will boost a multiple no end. Stick it in a 4 fold with 3 choices at evens and the returns will be phenomenal.

When Wigan played QPR the other week they were both at good odds, both something like 17/10 with a draw at 23/10 or something close to those odds. La Liga and Serie A were also on that night, so I had a look and made up 2 4 folds of 3 pretty safe bets and QPR in one and Wigan/Draw in the other. So long as the other 3 selections won (and they we're things like Real Madrid v Almeria, Juventus v Sassuolo, Barca v Granada) it was a guarenteed pile of cash courtesy of the Wigan v QPR game. It essentially turned a treble from maybe a 1/2 - evens payout to a 2/1 payout.

They also need to be careful of that when they offer both options at good odds.

    How can this be racist?

Don't confuse religion with race, as it happens Muslims usually choose a name from the Koran, but being Muslim isn't synonymous of a race, you could be Arab, Turk, Azeri, Farsi, Indonesian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Lebanese...

There are also Christan Arabs, Jewish Egyptians, Buddhist Bangladeshis..

Bit off topic but I learned that Muslims believe in and appreciate Jesus Christ the other day. Not quite in the same way as Christianity, but nonetheless, they think he's fab.

Sadly for Gedo and Egypt being 1-6 down they are toasted. Egypt will do well just to win the game.

Elmo is furious with team manager for being left out of the squad but that is to Hull City's benefit.

Quinn and Bruce were not involved with ROI or NI last friday either so again good news for Hull City.

Only Figueroa has played. He played for Honduras against Brazil in America over the weekend. Brazil won 5-0.

Honduras play Ecuador in Miami tuesday in another meaningless game.

Hopefully Steve Bruce will have many of his international players back and fresher than could have been.

They don't believe in Jesus as the Messiah like Christians do. The word 'Christ' means Messiah and originates from ancient Greek. They only accept him as a prophet among others. They also believe that Mohammed is the final prophet, the most important and that the Holy Koran negates the previous books of the Torah & New Testament and also that no new prophet will come afterwards.

In public, Muslims will say they tolerate the Christians' veneration of Jesus but really see other faiths as infidels who have not yet accepted the true faith and believe all infidels will go to Hell.

A nation under Islamic Law would not tolerate other faiths.

Islam needs an enlightenment such as what happened in Europe in the 17th century. That's partly the reason why most Jews are now pretty much secular and Christendom is no longer a concept.

The bullshit is one rooted evil , no matter what name you give it , Christianity , Judaism or Islam , They are man-made , I totally agree with your last paragraph . And overall hopefully the myth of religion by all its brands will come to vanish some day . The Earth is pretty ****ed up and had enough of it.

Gedo came on in the second half for Zaki and scored a good goal to make it 2-0 Egypt. Fathi I believe played the whole game in CMF. Elmo as stated was left out and had a few nasty things to say about Bradley.
