He was probably convinced in his own head that he had the solution. They’d have a few cans together, catch a huge ****ing tench, and go home and forget all about shooting the world up. Moat probably would have shot him, because that **** had a different kind of madness, but Gazza definitely meant well.
I remember my mum saying that he would end up as another George Best, and I told her not to be so silly. What do I know eh?
I love Gazza. His life may have been different if there was an early intervention. He's clearly always had a mental illness but it was different back then. He's been too far gone for a long time and even when all his mates have stepped in and sent him off to rehab, It's been too late, the damage has been done. The lads up here call him '1 of their own' and treat him as such. Which is so wrong. Whenever he's been about the local bars they're tripping over themselves to buy him a pint and put a line of their gear out for him, which of course he never turns down. The guy has no willpower and has been surrounded by ****ers who have loved being taken along for the ride but have never done what's best for Gazza. I just see a man who has always needed help in life, but never got it until it was to late. His lies and weird behaviour are all signs of the illness strangling him. He's vulnerable and weak in life. He wasn't ready to take on the world by himself.
Thanks Matth. Was reading Paul Merson’s book on holiday (brilliant book for something not too heavy by the pool) and he lives with Gazza in Boro. Life was so boring they played a game where the first to fall asleep after drinking a load of red wine and sleeping pills lost.
Judge got common sense It's obvious he was just trying to boost a fatties confidence Some people are ungrateful
